Just checked the rubber petrol hoses on my mates Truimph 2500 and they are ****ed !!! He poped around for a cuppa and i mentioned the fuel pipe problems i've had so we checked his . They looked fine and new then i wiggled one and it split and fell too bits . He was lucky as the main feed to the carbs is over the exhaust manifold .

Further to worries about metal petrol tanks rusting due to bio-fuels. I have just treated an Escort tank with a product called Tapox. It is an epoxy based sealer it has been tested in tanks for 8 years with 100% ethanol and has proved 100% ok. I was tempted to go for the faster curing sealers for convenience but no other has had this long term test, so decided it was worth the extra effort to get the peace of mind.
I now stock this product, along witn all the other stuff required to sort the tank prior to treatment, so get in touch if interested - or check www.retro-uk.com for more details.
Apologies for advert but it could save someone some grief.

classic bikers are really suffering as PETSEAL was used by most in there tanks that was rusty inside is now being turned into a jelly liquid blocking the fuel taps and carbs and peeling of inside the tanks and exposing the rust again
but hey this is goverment approved and they know what they are doing like giving the bankers billions to sort out the ecconomy that they ruined

Fuel system components made from brass, copper, and aluminium may oxidize. The dissolved plastics and resins now in the fuel could end up in blocked fuel filters or gummy deposits.

Feel for the owner in Croydon poor sod....stuck on south side of the river would be my worst nightmare !
All we can do is try to spread the word to other forums and tell any classic owners about ethanol....and swap out any fuel lines on our cars and keep an eye on fittings and carbs...Steve

I know it's American but some interesting stuff from Gates. They need to start selling it here. It seems we only get the crap stuff in the UK.
