I have been with AON - now Footman James for years....rs2000 x 2, capris and even a 911 but this year I have reduced from the 2 x rs2000 and a capri to just the one RS and the capri and my premium has increased!!..time to look around.....must have been with AON/FJ for over 15 years!!

I was with AON and couldn't fault them.......until Footman James took them over, then became a menace.

Hagerty all the way, and have been for years. Phil goes to the shows, knows the cars and great service, as long as you are not heavily modified or (very)modern engine. Discount for car club members and also able to drive other Hagerty insured drivers cars fully comp. Winner.

That doesn't make sense at all...... do you mean 2 ltr pinto or 2 ltr zetec etc ?

If it's a 2 ltr pinto then there's something wrong there....I would try and speak to Phil to explain.

When I spoke to Hagerty I was speaking with a guy called Charles.

He said to me they are happy to insure classics that have mods that were available in period.
They are not insuring classic cars fitted with modern engines.
I guess if you are an existing customer with a modern engine in your car they will continue to insure you.
As I think this is a pretty new rule for hagerty I don't know what will happen come renewal time.

As mentioned on a previous thread My RS2000 with all mods declared costs £101.50 with breakdown cover.
I really don't think there is anyone to beat hagerty for insuring period modified Escorts, as long as you are over 30.

i was with hegerty for many years, with Phill, told them about my zetec, bye bye taff they said, , a very good company but loosing out with thse rules i think, even the new company i'm with called hegarty to get them to keep me and they still said sorry they do not insure classic cars with modern engines................... but surely the 2ltr pinto swap should be no problem

how do they look upon your white car aled? the engine you have in there was not out in the early 70's was it? does it not come under the banner modern engine in an old car?

Yes they do, but only period mods. So they should cover a pinto upgrade as it's a period modification.
My RS2 has twin 40's, cam, vernier, after market exhaust, 5 speed, WCXM, wilwood 4 pots & vents.
All declared & stated in my policy.
