I had to move from FJ when the car was painted - they wouldn't insure it with a custom paint job, but were OK with the completely modified chassis, bodywork, Rover V8 and box, Capri suspension, axle and brakes
how do they look upon your white car aled? the engine you have in there was not out in the early 70's was it? does it not come under the banner modern engine in an old car?
I don't think they class the red top as a modern engine Gra.......unlike the zetex and duratec etc.
The (un) helpful person on the phone let me reel of every mod on the car from carbs to suspension, cage LSD brakes etc, then turned round and said they can,t insure due to engine change, wouldnt give a definite reason???
He wanted to know what the engine was out of, I said " its the same as the original just bigger cc, they were fitted to Capris, transits, rs2000s and sierras, mines a 205 block so came out of a sierra"
He must have assumed being out of a "sierra" it was "modern" so not allowed!

Taffr couldn't get insured with a Zetec fitted but they have been happy to insure my car
We rang up to make sure that this was OK and Phil checked everything and again confirmed that I was covered with an agreed value with the Zetec engine running Throttle Bodies & an ECU

I am looking for an Escort project to renovate and use for track days etc.I would want road cover for this car also. The information given out by Hagerty would appear to be ambigious.I will give them a call on monday and ask the question.
My renewal from Footman James came through this week, up £80 from last year with an unmodified 1600 crossflow and a mileage restriction of 3000.
Got another quote just by going online from an outfit called Sureterm Direct £90 cheaper - anyone ever heard of them?
I,m now with a guy called Paul at "need to insure" not got the phone number on me now, google them, good lads who know their cars, give them a call, paul spent the first day I was with him trying to get hagerty's to take back my business, he was recommended to me by Graham John, give him a call, I got both my cars with all the mods and the zetec for £270
