    I Went straight into an engineering apprentiship when I was 16 IN 1967. Now a CNC machine setter for the last 20 years. I complete 45 years service this coming September so you could say i'm pretty much part of the furniture now.

      Started as Graduate Engineer in British Steel Port Talbot, then Corus, now Tata. Presently Mechanical Engineer on a Blast Furnace Rebuild.

        Apprentice toolmaker in 1964, ended up as quality engineer for BNFL at Sellafield and I retired exactly 5 years ago at 60. Now a gentleman of leisure.
        Gone to the Dark Side but still lurking!

          Started off in my dads car repair busness whilst still at school,week ends and sometimes after school for some pocket money,oh and working on my first cars 2.0 ltr pinto mk1 escort estate(customized )and mk2 escort 3.0 litre essex v6 powered x-pack all before i was 17,did my YTS there when i left school,mainly did the accident repair side of things,went working in a ford dealers as a paint technician at 26,worked in various body shops spraying and still doin it now ATA just ran out and av got to re-do it.

              Joined the the army after school (2nd royal tank regiment ) did some time there and went in the building trade, now self employed .

                Started with BNFL Sellafield in 84 as fitter/turner, then lifting appliance engineer, pressure systems engineer, tech support engineer & planner.

                Retired in 07 to become a sofa tester working from home.

                  Started as an Aircraft Engineer in 1983, left after 21 years to start a small building & renovation business. Still batteling on despite the recession.

                    Straight from school into an avionics apprenticeship, 23 years later still working for the same firm. Currently working on 'special projects' converting RAF chinooks

                          left school in 93 and started on a yts at a main dealer .still at the same dealer but now senior tech on mazda ( just like a ford ) new ones anyway lol

                              Left School in 1984 got job as Apprentice Surgical Instrument Maker within a small engineering firm.
                              Then got Job as Trainee Anaesthetic Servicing Technician in Edinburgh Royal Infirmary 1989,service, install and repair Life support and Respiratory equipment. still there 23 years later, now Supervisor.

                                After becoming an Electronics Engineer started as a electronics designer; some years and several jobs later am now an electronics designer 2 ..... plus the freelance "virgin-liberator" job I took over from BigBoy!
