vosa say that the certificate is really just a receipt as your mot is stored online.
I said at a recent mot seminar the the new ones look cheap and fake, vosa said its to keep everything cheaper for the customer and the garages.

I bet the printing company who used to print the blank red, amber and green blank certificates are not too happy about it either!
The price of an mot slot the garages have to pay has remained the same too, even though they now have to supply there own paper!

does it mean a MOT station pays the goverment even if the mot does not take place, and has to pay for the green certs, how are the costs broken down. my MOT was £35.00 which i think is cheap for 1 hour examination of my car to tell me its safe as can be for the road.Old escorts, better than a pension plan.

the garage has to buy test slots for each mot from vosa for the computer, i cant remember the cost of each slot..... poss £2.05???
when test slots were bought they came with all the paper work which was required ie a check list, mot certificate, advisory and a fail sheet.
we dont get this paper work anymore as its just standard plain white paper which the garage has to buy and also the printer for this paper work needs an ink cartrige which we have to have 2 of now which im told cost more than £80 each, add to that the cost of the testers and assistants wages, electric for the machines and the maintainence, testing and updating of these machines.
its quite a bit of cost for the garage.cheeRS
