As I got to him he made no eye contact, almost a vacant stare, it went noticeably cold and there was an awful smell, not a country smell but a rank smell, the kid turns directly behind me still not looking where he was going!

Up untill the passing of my Gran I lived with her for a while and being an old dear she found the need to use the bathroom during the night,,,,,generally around 4am

After she passed away I was woken on several occations by the toilet flushing during the night usually around 4am

Bear I mind I was the only person in the house.

In 1988 my dad was killed in a fight standing up for the guys in our local Indian restaurant, he was stabbed in the heart, he was a big strong man but he died on the way to the hospital.
Quite a few years ago my wife Claire (who my dad had never met) went to see a medium, she was singled out by the medium because a "bob" wanted to contact her, she thought it was her grandad who had the same name, but the things being said didn't make any sense to her like identifying marks and tattoos etc, then the medium held her chest and made a stabbing gesture, this is when Claire twigged.
When she came home she looked pale and started asking little personal things about my dad, which I can honestly say I had forgotten but when asked it a came flooding back, the medium had recorded the session and Claire had a tape of it all, it was a bit surreal but I have no doubt it was him, considering Claire couldn't at the time confirm the things the medium had asked because she didn't know, but i di when she asked me after.
Ive also had the odd occasion where Ive smelt a familiar smell and caught something out the corner of my eye, in fact once i woke up and just sat bolt upright in bed i'm sure i saw him briefly before wiping my eyes and there was nothing there,i put it down to a dream at the time.
Then just over six years ago we had our gorgeous little girl Kerris, she was healthy in every way except that she was born with a hole in her heart,(its all healed now), but within days some odd things kept happening in our house bulbs kept blowing, electrical items in general playing up,things going missing, and my dog (bob named after my dad) was acting very strange also, we put bobs behaviour down to the upheaval of the little un coming along.
Then one evening I went to the kitchen to make a butty and couldn't find the bread knife, in fact every knife in the block was missing, i asked claire, she blamed me , I blamed my mum who had been round cleaning before Claire and kerris had come home, no one had a clue where they had gone and to this day six years on they have not been found.
One evening working on lates I had LBC on in the van, its a phone in radio show and they had a medium on the show, curiosity got the better of me and i called in, I started to tell the story and only got as far as my daughters birth and the medium asked if things have gone missing, but not to tell him what, i said yes, and he said your hes took them to protect your daughter!! I broke down after hanging up.

As a young girl my nan and her sister swear to this day that they both saw a old lady at the foot of their bed while staying at a very old guest house, they were both asleep and were woken by the old lady dressed in Victorian bed clothes.
My nan (bless her) wont talk too much about it but both her and her sister to this day are adamant they both saw her.

Also my dad used to work in the East end of London, Brick lane actually, in the Trumans brewery, he would tell me about figures seen walking through the yard disappearing through a wall that had been put up in the 70s, the brewery dated from 1666.
The brewery closed in 1989 and is now craft shops, recording studios, bars and the yard has some small workshops around the perimeter, i was working the area and had a breakdown in the yard, one of the fellas who ran a small engineering workshop from there needed a jump start, i went and got his transit going for him.
I started to chat to him and said "your late going home" he said that some times he stayed all night working there, so i told him my dad worked there years ago and i used to go up there as a kid, then i asked if he had seen anything at night, he went a bit sheepish so I told him what my dad used to tell me, he seemed relieved that he wasn't the only one that had seen things and he thought he was losing his marbles, i assured him that i knew of at least three people (two of my dads workmates who are still around to tell the story) that had seen the same bloke walking into the wall.
He went into his workshop and brought out a china mug with 'Trumans Brewery Canteen' printed on the front, he gave it to me saying it must mean more to me than him.
In the 18 years my dad worked shifts there im sure that mug would have passed through his hands at some point.

I believe the Watneys brewery was only a mile or so away on Cambridge heath road, behind the Blind Beggar pub (Where Ronny Kray shot George Cornell), the site is now a Salisbury's
Trumans was sold off to Watneys in the early eighties but retained its branding so I doubt its the same site, but when they were shutting down both sites there would maybe some correspondence between the Union reps, My dad was also a Shop steward for many years.
Please feel free to mention Bob (or Bobby) Barker to your dad and see if he remembers any dealings with him, I would be very interested if he does.
