Well, hello all.
I have just got back on the site; the pc must have spat the dummy out with me not using it last week end. I’ve had loads of post notifications from the site on my
i-phone, so I have had to make do with just reading them most of the week all 478 of them.
Anyway I’m back now, and would like to say a big thanks to all of you for all the good comments about the 2011 Lakes tour and Cumbria RSOC show. Having been the 6th to date, not sure which one could be called the best one, but last weekend must have been one of the more interesting ones for you all; keeping it quiet for the last two months was a bit daunting to say the least - I did have to tell one or two people that had a part in the tour but they were sworn to secrecy. Thanks.
I would also like to thank all the people that helped in any way to make the
Lakes “11” tour happen; you all know who you are. Big thanks to G, as you all know he did have a big part in this year’s tour. Also, a big thanks to Miles, Kathryn and Paul for the use of the hotel and grounds. We presented Miles and Kathryn with a set of MK1 Mexico quarter bumpers and brackets for their mk1 Mexico that’s just taking for ever to restore. He tells me it’s all done now apart from the paint, so if it’s painted for next year’s tour we can all put her back together for them over the weekend.
As far as the tour went, we are very pleased with the way it turned out, although it would have been better if more people have used the road book rather than sat navs! They may not have got stuck up a road they shouldn’t have been up lol, and I would have liked to have seen more of you at the Lakeland Motor Museum. If you had all gone there I would have had more time sorting the Heaves out for you arrival back, but as a quarter of the cars were back 2 hours early the group photo didn’t work this year.
T shirts - most of the Lakes “11” T’s have been sold now but I do have some XXL and three XXXL left - there was only 100 T shirts altogether in different sizes.
Polo’s - I have about 13 left, not sure of the sizes. PM me and I will have a look. If you ordered a polo and never got it, drop me a PM and I will post it onto you.
Jackets - 4 XXL left .
Driving standards
As far as driving standards went on the Lakes “11” Tour this year, we did have one or two complaints but not as many as last year thankfully. If you do have a complaint of bad driving by a tour participant please PM me the make and Reg of the car and I will deal with it.
M/sport was very pleased with the turn out of cars and the behaviour of you all. One of them said, he didn’t realise that there were so many MK 1 and Mk2 Escorts left and the standard of them all was just overwhelming.
We will be presenting Malcolm with a photo album later next week to give him an insight into the Lakes “11” tour you never know he may just have us back sometime!!
Charity raffle and Auction.
The raffle went well must admit did go on a bit, £480 as for the auction it did even better, Rob Horder did very well out it lol it made £800 and we still have a few items left to auction which I will put up on the site later this week Jules shortbread sales made £50.00 cheers Jules and I also have the proceeds of the Action of the FORD signs to add to the charity which will be £700 and when I get all the bills paid and see what left in the kitty and make the donation up to a tidy sum for the Grate North Air Ambulance
Many thanks for your generosity.
But on the whole Lakes “11” worked out well, how many times did you hear someone say good to have the crack with you or nice to see you again this year, it’s just got to be the most friendly get together of the year and I for one would like to keep it going for a bit longer yet, yes there was some changes this year one or two none fords on the tour that were invited by myself to do the tour, but they were all members of this forum that have fords as well as other classic car’s so what !!! They were all of the same era of the Fords on the tour and as far as I can see there’s only one compliant that I can see reading though the vast amount of posts on this fun and friendly web site, but there’s always one NOBODY his quote not mine, that just likes the sound of his own voice shame really he has nothing better to do than try to wind people up but we have saying up here nowt as queer as folk, lets just see if he lasts the week end out lol.
Hopefully you all enjoyed your week end sorry about the weather did think we had it cracked this year but it all went a bit Pete tong on Thursday but never the less Kev Curtis now knows what the rain in Cumbria smell’s like and how to predict when it coming and didn’t he do well did you see the world cup smiling from ear to ear he was lol, nice one Kev the RS1600 is just stunning son or and he also got some bird dropping cleaner for the spuggie droppings well done Kev the cars a credit to you son.
