I did consider replacing the roof and getting a new headlining, but although I think I could do it well enough, it would take me so long that it could be another 10 years before I get it back on the road. I actually quite like having a sunroof, even taking it completely out on nice days as a semi convertable.

Right now I'd be happy to drive it regardless of the sunroof situation.

i do think a webasto roof is better than a glass roof but when you look at the big picture a sunroof has saved a lot of cars from the idiots that want to make them into a rally car

i know the feeling andy as im in the same boat, been looking for 4 months now was even going to go over to Gurnsey to have look at that mex but the guy sold it last weekend also tried bigjohnnie about his but he took it off the market to use it. All the time there a not many on the market the prices will keep going up as people are just buying what they can when they come on the market thus driving prices up.

no doubt you could Paul, but building a car to the standards you put into the last one, i doubt £15k would be enough nowadays..sourcing a shell...then the bodywork, paint then all the trick bits, aint cheap building one from scratch

its seems like standard cars are very very rare in RS spec these days for sale............
mine is one of those cars but there are 2 mods 1: 7" rs wheels, 2: spax adjustable front inserts, both can be changed at any time....still got the 1.6 pinto as well but god are they bleeding slow
In fairness i'd actually prefer a modded car as standard/concours kings just aren't my thing at all....i'll be honest i've not seen a tidy useable RS fitting this bill for less than £10k,there is the base model on here at £9k but as I say just not my thing (although surprised someones not bought it)

Even cars with rust bubbles on arches etc up at £13k...utter utter madness...

Prices are high due to the cost of decent restorations , decent parts etc etc . Probably £500 for a new rs2000 gear knob , lol .
