  • Prices is there an end in sight??

Haven't seen a thread like this for a while, so wondered on people's thoughts...can anyone see an end in sight for prices of MK1/2 RS Escorts?

Hands up i'm now totally priced out as even ones needing work are £10k plus, but yet a decent Lotus Sunbeam is around £6k ??

Love my Escorts and have been lucky to have sampled most variations over the years but i'm puzzled as to what the future holds for new blood etc.....any thoughts people

The only problem with those is they are shite though , lol . Even £500 is too much for a mass produced gutless shopper with rust and electrical problems galore .
sigpic 2.1 ATMO YB POWER .

Surely they're all not worth over £10K. I thought it was only the mint/concours ones that were worth that much. I won't say how much I thought mine would be worth with a fresh MOT on it incase I get my PM box filled up.

it all depends on what your looking for in your new purchase Brynmor.....are you on the hunt for a standard, modified, concourse etc mk2?????
its seems like standard cars are very very rare in RS spec these days for sale............
mine is one of those cars but there are 2 mods 1: 7" rs wheels, 2: spax adjustable front inserts, both can be changed at any time....still got the 1.6 pinto as well but god are they bleeding slow

Out of interest how does a pop up sunroof effect the price these days on an otherwise standard and original car? This and the speakers in my door cards are the two items that would prevent it being brought up to concours standard with enough time and effort.

in the 1970's cars was fitted with sunroofs so its a period extra it wouldnt bother me or stop me buying a car to be honest would rather have a sunroof than a strut brace or a cossie engine but hey thats me

The proof is always in the pudding imo - I sold mine recently for significantly less than £10k, because, well, quite frankly it wasn't worth £10k! Those that want a sale, will put a car up for what it's worth, not for what they want. The two are vastly different entities. It's a buyer's market, stick with it and you'll get a good car, at a fair price!

i don't think it matters anymore about sunroofs if my next mk2 has got one then thats ok with me but i think there are some folk out there that want a solid roof and will pay for it aswell.
but if your car is very good and mint then it don't matter
