See what you think and pass it on if you agree with it

We are hitting £123.9 a litre in some areas now, soon we will be faced with paying £2.00 a ltr. Philip Hollsworth offered this good idea:

This makes MUCH MORE SENSE than the 'don't buy petrol on a certain day campaign that was going around last April or May! The oil companies just laughed at that because they knew we wouldn't continue to hurt ourselves by refusing to buy petrol. It was more of an inconvenience to us than it was a problem for them. BUT,whoever thought of this idea, has come up with a plan that can really work.

Please read it and join in!

Now that the oil companies and the OPEC nations have conditioned us to think that the cost of a litre is CHEAP, we need to take aggressive action to teach them that BUYERS control the market place not sellers. With the price of petrol going up more each day, we consumers need to take action. The only way we are going to see the price of petrol come down is if we hit someone in the pocket by not purchasing their Petrol! And we can do that WITHOUT hurting ourselves. Here's the idea:
For the rest of this year DON'T purchase ANY petrol from the two biggest oil companies (which now are one), ESSO and BP.

If they are not selling any petrol, they will be inclined to reduce their prices. If they reduce their prices, the other companies will have to follow suit. But to have an=2 0impact we need to reach literally millions of Esso and BP petrol buyers. It's really simple to do!!
Now, don't wimp out at this point... keep reading and I'll explain how simple it is to reach millions of people!!

I am sending this note to a lot of people. If each of you send it to at least ten more (30 x 10 = 300)... and those 300 send it to at least ten more (300 x 10 = 3,000) ... and so on, by the time the message reaches the sixth generation of people, we will have reached over THREE MILLION consumers! If those t hree million get excited and
pass this on to ten friends each, then 30 million people will have been contacted! If it goes one level further, you guessed it...

    THREE HUNDRED MILLION PEOPLE!!!

Again, all You have to do is send this to 10 people. That's all.(and not buy at ESSO/BP) How long would all that take? If each of us sends this email out to ten more people within one20day of receipt, all 300 MILLION people could conceivably be contacted within the next 8days!!! Acting together we can make a difference . If this makes sense to you, please pass this message on.

PLEASE HOLD OUT UNTIL THEY LOWER THEIR PRICES TO THE 69p a LITRE RANGE
It's easy to make this happen. Just forward this email, and buy your petrol at Shell, Asda,Tesco, Sainsburys, Morrisons Jet etc. i.e. boycott BP and Esso

well what do you think guys ? can this work ?

personally i doubt it as a huge proportion of the cost for a litre is government taxation / Revenue and that is probably umlikely to decrease, especially as the UK is alledgedly 'Broke'

The point is that its the tax on the fuel that makes it too expensive and the petrol retailers have to pay this tax to HM Govt. So it seams bloody pointless to boycott the retailers

I have no answer what to do though!!!

Asda Elgin is 129.9 for diesel, cheapest up here, got word from friends in Orkney to say it's over 140.

Government gotta realise that if we canna afford to get places, we canna afford to spend money in general so the economy will never grow.

My answer is that I have dusted off the old push bike and decided to cycle to work.
It has a few plus points = saving around £60 a month and getting fit at the same time.
Only real down side is when it rains, but it's only water.

No one till take any notice and the price will continue to rise.

Ask the goverment to reduce the tax,,,,,you already know the answer

Ask the oil magnets to reduce the price,,,again you know the answer

We will just continue to complain and pay up

Hard fact but that the way it is

Great idea but can't see it working. As I see it the one flaw in this is the government. Assuming this boycott gets off the ground and the price of fuel comes down say 25%. That means the government receive 25% less tax. They will say we can't afford that so the duty will have to go up thus petrol returns to it's previous price. The oil companies then add a bit extra as well and we all end up paying MORE not less for our fuel. Sorry but it's not rocket science.

                  Phil.

i totally agree with this.boycott the major fuel companies and buy fuel from supermarkets.its all well and good saying there`s nothing we can do about fuel prices but we have to do something.so lets give it a go and see how it pans out!

Do you think the french and the americans would stand for this?i doubt it.

Nice idea but I doubt it would have much affect, at the end of the day about 80p in a litre is tax and vat
This government promised a fuel stabiliser if they got into power but they are now doing billy back steps away from that, suprise suprise
And the last lot were just as bad, remember when they lowered vat on everything but fuel, then when they put vat back up they added more onto fuel so they sneaked the tax up
At the end of the day they will all shaft the law abiding motorist as we are an easy target, remember the quote from the new Transport Minister back in May "The war on the motorist is over" I dont think so.
