That will be because your fuel tank will be a lot bigger on a modern car, I used to fill my MK2 in 1988 for £15. I seem to remember it was £2 a gallon then and the tank held about 7 to 8 gallons.
Fair enough the fuel has gone up a lot since then about 3 times, but I was taking home £95 a week then and my wages now are more than 3 times what they were then. If your wages have gone up a similar amount then your fuel costs are less now than they were then in relation to your earnings.
Yes fuel prices have gone up but it pushes the price of everything else
up to like food. But it's only January more fuel price rises to come
not long now till we are driving eletric cars lol
