If engine is froze
Remove thermostat housing if poss to allow water/ice to expand as it thaws within engine or at least remove the bottom hose
If using heat to warm engine warm it up very slowly, hair dryer usually does the trick.
Dont forget to warm up the heater box as well before starting engine
Finished a Fiat Punto defrost yesterday using space heater blowing under car towards engine bay with bonnet propped open about 6 inches
Warm air flowed through the engine bay and I got away with no damage for the owner once engine started

Its not the fact its froze that does the damage
Its when the ice thaws - if it has nowhere to expand it can at best pop out a core plug or worse crack the block
Remove bottom hose NOW ! Well maybe not right now if you havin a beer or 3 - lol

should you not have antifreeze in your system anyway as it helps to prevent corrosion in the system read that somewhere
