Well what can I say 105 miles to get there (no Range Rover or trailer this time).
Very wet Friday night camping but excellent meal and copious amounts of ale at local pub with free taxi too and from the pub for all !
Saturday morning 09:00 briefing and away at 09:30
Superb routes and scenery even though it was very wet in the morning - cleared up a bit later
Off to Electric Mountain for a sedate thrash on a private road to the top of the reservoir in dense fog
On next leg to Cricieth we all did a circuit of the towns Market area - lol - the looks on the locals faces was priceless as loads of old Fords passed by.
Then onto the next venue and I get severe issues with coming out of all gears and a horrible whine.,bang and screeching from the transmission.
Decide to hit "home" (campsite) on the TomTom - load up tent and kit and then head from campsite to attempt to get home before something fails permanently.
Get home without to much problems and then off to workshop.
Aim to remove gearbox so off with the prop.
Find diff input bearing hanging off so remove diff (English axel) to find bearing has worn through bearing race.
New bearings and rebuild diff tomorrow and then strip gearbox to see why gear selection is naffed.
So early bath for me but bring it on next year - great company and the routes were awesome with plenty of areas to stretch your legs
Many thanks to Aled and Dave and anyone else who assisted for all the hard work and effort that goes into organising such an event.
2011 I'm in please !
