Hello to all
I have tendered my resignation with immediate effect as registrar for the MKII RS2000.
My reason is due to a show of no-confidence by some of my fellow registrars and more importantly the Registrars Representitive Duncan (Dunncoss) Clare.
The reason for the show of no confidence is as follows :-
In 2009 I made an expenses claim for apprx £245 for the year - this amount was duly audited, agreed and signed off then I was subsequently paid by the RSOC treasurer.
The claim was purely a fuel per mile allowance at the agreed rate (25p per mile) for attending 3 RS shows throughout the year. No claims were made for ANY telephone calls, postage, fax, paper, food, beer (for either me or my friends !) hotels, campsite etc etc etc NOTHING other than travel.
Recently there was a registrars meeting and it appears a NAME and SHAME policy has now been instigated by Duncan Clare to shame registrars into not claiming any expenses.
In 2009 the registrars expenses totalled apprx £2200 (well I claimed £245 so others must be claiming as well).
Some registrars have expressed their opinion that I am "taking the p**s" by claiming for fuel to go to an RS show to carry out pre arranged valuations when I was going to be there anyway as on 2 of those occasions I was also on track in my MKII RS2000 - sorry but I do have a life as well as being a registrar and going on track is the way I enjoy my MKII RS2000
Those same registrars have stated they DO NOT make expenses claims (even though they like me are entitled to do so) well @ £2200 for 2009 somebody did.
The 3 shows my fuel claims were for are, Wednesbury (Jct 9 M6) to :-
RSOC Cumbria - 12 valuations carried out
RSOC Derby Durham (Croft) - 4 valuations carried
RSOC Swindon Bristol (Castle Combe) - 6 carried out
I have NEVER claimed a penny for going to an RS show where I did NOT carry out a valuation and nor have I ever considered claiming as such.
I feel I have been left with no other decision than to resign as how can I carry on when I do not have the backing of some of my peers or representive.
You may agree or disagree with me that is your perogative but what I cannot accept regarding my own scenario is that I was allowed to claim - I claimed - and now I am being made to look like a sponging p**s taking registrar.
Well lets hope all other expense claimants are not treated in the same way as I have been or on the other hand are as OPEN and TRANSPARENT as I am on how their claims are broken down !
I will continue to be a member of the RSOC (much to some others disappointment I am sure) but will no longer be taking part in an official capacity.
I knew when I took on the role what was involved and how little thanks anyone got for carrying out the role but accepted that and hope MKII RS2000 owners were happy in the way I dealt with issues or valuation as they occured.
To any MKII RS2000 owners that require a valuation I suggest you contact the RSOC office and you will be advised accordingly
Thank you for taking the time to read this thread.
