I was in RAF for 11 years and have great memories. So many good times and great cameraderie. Travelled the world, and was looked after, and had some experiences which you will never have in civvie street. Go for it Jack, you will not regret it. All the best

, kiss kiss

Not sure I agree on the "job for life" comment as I think those days are long gone, but you will certainly be safer in the services than in civvy street in terms of redundancy.
If you do join dont ask anyone where the "golden rivet" is
Good luck

basic tests are, mile and a half under 10 1/2 mins, 45 ish press ups in 2 mins and 60ish sit ups in two mins, the run is after the exercise's, top tip, do some long steady state runs to build your base fitness, starting around 30 mins moving up to an hour ish, and start on your press ups and sit ups when you can during the day, just keep doing them, pull ups are good too, good luck jackOriginally posted by escort new boy View Posthave done, shuvled 18 tone of hardcore at work today an even managed a 5 mile bike ride after

just for youOriginally posted by Andyc View PostAnd stay away from fires
Basic training at HMS Raleigh
Begin your career with nine-weeks’ basic training at HMS Raleigh – a shore base near Plymouth. You’ll learn crucial skills like fire fighting, discipline, teamwork and weapons handling. You’ll need to be generally fit and able to swim before you arrive.

Best tip anyone ever gave me was "join a running club". You can run on your own but running in a group really brings your fitness on. Something else to bear in mind is that someone who spends every night in the gym and look like Arnie might consider himself fit, but if you can't run you wont pass. End of.sigpic
