Most common and DANGEROUS rust traps on 1970's 911's is the front floor area in front of the fuel tank . The front torsion bars mount to this area onto a strengthened box section and this fills with mud and water and rots . This can cause the front suspension too snap off the box section under heavy cornering/braking !!!!!! Here's a pick of mine , when i bought the car it had the worst repairs possible to this area . Must have been done by a monkey it was so bad . The bodyshop chopped the whole front off and replaced the lot , luckly you can still buy all the bits for all 911 bodyshells .

12.4sec to 109mph With NO turbo , NO gay trailer , NO slicks , NO gas , NO race fuel and NO bits missing . Beat that !!!!

The rear mounted 2.2 - 3.6 litre aircooled flat 6 engines are very short and wide and all swop with each other . The 911 inner shell didn't really change much for 30 years so a 1970's 2.2 model can recieve a 1990's 3.6 litre motor if required . Very handy if you want an old one to go from 120bhp to over 300bhp .

Mines an on going project , i just gets bits done on it when i have some spare money to spend (not often then ) . The dangerous bits got done but the rest is just cosmetic stuff really so i haven't bothered . You can go to town on these as all the panels are available but it costs alot if buying all genuine bits and takes a long time . Mine looks alright from 10 feet away and is mechanically good so i just drive it and have a bit of fun in it . Everyone likes it and it looks and goes just like a collectors favourite £150,000 RS2.7 model does except mines an old 911E in disguise and cheaper than a buffty rs2000 , lol !!!!!

Just found this pic of the new panels going on in place of the rust . Luckly if a 911 is rusty here it doesn't affect any outside paintwork as it's all hidden from view . We just sprayed mine with a can for now so the paintwork cost £10 !!!!!
