    Depends what you want it for?
    200TDi is simpler and has less to go wronge, i run my 200 on cooking oil, diesel and sometimes old engine oil, never misses a beat, just smokes occasionly
    The 300 is deffo more refined and the TD5 even more so but the later you get the more the electrickery comes into it and the more it goes wrong'
    TBH even an early 200TDi will feel refined compared to an old ford but in the great old tradition of all Fords they love to rust, especialy the boot floor and strengthening ribs under it, inner sills and basicly anywhere that ally panels and steel ones meet
    They do handle like a jelly on a plate susspended by very weak elastic to a bendy metal rod all held up by a ****ed bloke at midnight outside a kebab shop

        I run my 300 on similar substances! If it looks like it might burn, in it goes
        A few tricks mine has played on me;
        Head gasket went......just outside Pisa You can only begin to imagine the stress that caused.
        Alternator siezed and caught fire on the M5. Had my comp Escort on the trailer. Several fire extinguishers on board. Should maybe have let it go up.
        Head lights failed in Gloucestershire one night on way home from an event in February. Followed an Eddie Stobart wagon back to Carlisle!!
        I think this will be my last Disco, but you never know

              WHY a land rover or disco?
              Why not go for a Mitsubishi or toyota... it might be jap crap but at least you'll get reliability...
              the choice is yours
              I own a L200 and i'm well happy with it, also owned a 1999 shogun swb 3ltr v6 (would still own it if i could afford the fuel for it) with the diamond option pack - it was well nice.

                That's why i chose the 200 indestructable (well nearly).
                TBH it's so like a ford it's untrue, handles like the QE2, rusts like it trying to win the title of fastest rusting rusty thing but it starts every moring and goes anywhere and unlike the modern jap stuff is uber cheap to fix and it'll run on me wifes old knickers if i could stand the smell long enough to put em in the tank
