Go at your own pace, take your time getting up to speed and just have fun

              Take spares

              front pads
              oil
              water
              plugs

Also remember not to try and follow wetsfeilds into bends

and enjoy your self you'll be hooked

Replace brake fluid before you go !

The extra heat made by the brakes on a track day will soon boil old fluid (more than 18mth old).

Drive at your own pace and let faster cars through - watch their lines through corners and you will soon be upto speed

Have fun you will be hooked on track days very quickly

and start saving up as you'll want to do lots more and once you've done a couple you'll want some proper track tyres as they make a world of difference. I'm even contemplating slicks next year (on the 4x4 not the Mk1)

take nice food, good selection of sarnies and things, bit of chocolate / Fruit and PLENTY of stuff to drink (non alcholic obviously)

quite often there is catering on site, however if it is shite then there is not much you can do, nothing worse than being hungry and not having time to go find food. Eat a little something after each session.

As an expert in track days, I would recommend go as fast as you can. stay off the racing line, keep an eye on the car behind you at all times, Think your brakes are better than an Escort Cosworth with a big brake conversion, Take your wife with you, Take a fresh pair of grollies when you hit the gravel at 100mph
