  • Peugeot 309 GTI

FOR SALE - £2000 - no offers - available end of september ........... probably the most honest description of a car on this site follows ...........

    H reg - 1991 Peugeot 309 GTI 1900cc

7 previous owners - last one (me) since april 1998

117951 on clock, but has done approx 6000 more (broken speedo for a year)

will be a classic one day

    desciption -
sound car in general - tax/mot till jan - work for mot's have averaged £50 a 'ticket' for the last 8 years parts are cheap etc

engine sound - oil pressure ok, but does burn a bit (but not a smoker) - cam belt change is probably due - manual switched fan

gearbox - syncro gone on 3/4th - clonks every now and then, but not always

clutch - replaced (brett) 2 years ago

good tyres - alloys ok, but would need a refurb

body work - ok, but a bit tired in places - does polish up well though - has had a few panels blown in, in the past - needs a bit of work on drivers inner wing where it meets the front panel (just bodged to get through mot last time) ...... worked tho

passengers footwell carpet gets 'wet' in heavy rain - god knows where it comes in from

interior - goodish - bit dusty tho - again does clean up though - two small 'tears' on the drivers front seat due to wear - lumbers sound and not worn or sagged - electric windows all working

heater works well - all lights good - all instruments good - passenger glove box mint (owners know about these always breaking) - vacum seal on sunroof good

exterior - Hella spot lamps - Peugeot mudflaps - Peugeot alarm/immobiliser (central locking key fob works 100% but casing not in good condition and they are difficult to source)

this car is for sale because i dont want it scrapped at the end of next month - whether its worth £2k, i aint a clue, but obviously cant take anything less because of the scrappage scheme ....... sorry

this car is not a minter, but everyone who knows it says its a good one .............. just ask GJ

would just like to see it go to a good home - Graeme

        Good luck with the sale

But it WILL be going for scrap if you won't take less than £2000.

        Not worth anywhere near that I'm afraid,goin by 309's I've seen/viewed its a £800 car tops I'm afraid.

Take a look at 309 Gtis for sale elsewhere, you can get Goodwoods with under 50k miles for under £1500.

The most expensive Gti I've seen sell over the last 2 years was a Miami blue one, very rare colour, and that only made just over £1000.

Its a shame the 309 Gti does not hold much value at the minute, but will hopefully go up

Will be a shame if it gets scrapped

Not many about as it is,most get broken for parts to be used on the ugly little 205Gti
Lucky if you find 3 or 4 for sale on E-Bay,and the same on Piston Heads

Do you really believe your getting £2000 for it from the scrappage scheme????

IMO its all just a big con with the figures, its not like your gettin £2000 cash in your hand

Hi all, i've made this point on the 309 forum, nice car too good to scrap, but will do well to make £1000, if you are buying a new car , can you not sell 309 for £1000 ish and then get £1000 or so off list price for not having px, therefore not costing you any extra and keeping a future classic on the road????

thats a shame to scrap it mate but this is the problem that
we have been having at vw -some really nice low milage cars
just not worth the 2k money-my mate at fords said they scrapped
a 1.6 205gti last month which was a one owner car an absolute
minter by all accounts -no one wanted it or was willing to give the
money -its all wrong just a way of getting old cars off the road
