New date also clashes with the European event so a lot of the die hards on the continent will be missing.

Shouldn't that be the claimed department of Donington as this has nothing to do with the RSOC - all lost monies etc. should be claimed back from Donington (possibly via the RSOC legal people as a group claim) as this is well out of order.

Spoke to Donnington, something to do with change in contractors.

New contractors need to start work early September to meet FIA deadlines!! Machines already moving in on the infield!

Not happy & can not make it. Asked Lisa to cancel holiday!!! No go!

Just hope this does not finish the club off!

Oh well, no National Day for me then

Already busy that weekend with Brighton Speed trials on the Saturday, & Essex air ambulance charity motorcycle ride on the Sunday.

              Poor show by Donington
              Cheers Rob.

crazy this, but nothing that can be done about it now, lets just hope they can sort a decent package out for all those out of pocket...

could this spell the end for national day after a few nightmares over the last few years???

                  oh eck, trouble at mill

maybe the committee should have held fire for a day or two to gain reaction to the change of date from the rsoc regional group members (surely Dono would have understood that)

surely no point in going ahead with something if no ones going to be there

shame, someone needs a at dono eh ?

Very poor on Donnys behalf this.

Cant quite believe they can crap on so many people in one go and get away with it.....not cool.

Is it too late in the day to get another venue for the 27th???

Am I right in thinking the RSOC have accepted the New Date that Donnington have given them.?

If so have they jumped in with both feet as Donnington are already holding a large wedge of the clubs cash..?

I'm just wondering why the club would stick with Donnington rather than move venue & keep the same date.
                      Mark....

We couldn't wait even a day as we have adverts to go to press this morning.

Yes, The Club has accepted the date of September 13th. It was either this or nothing at all as there is so little time to arrange another venue date. etc.
This is a real kick in the teeth for us but is completely beyond our control. We had a meeting with Donington on Saturday and all was fine then
Regarding Hotels, I know of a few people who have managed to change their reservations with no penalty. The Hotels are being sympathetic to us because of the circumstances. If anyone has booked then I advise they get in touch with them ASAP to re-arrange their booking.
The Members who have booked flights, ferries, holidays etc have my heart felt sorrow but again, please get in touch with your agents regarding transfer etc.
We are asking all members to please pass on the information regarding the date change to everyone they know so hopefully we, as a club can work together to make this a successful day for all.

What a terrible position to be put in - I can imagine how difficult the meeting must have been but look at it like this, for months the date has been 27th Sept, people have arranged their show season/holidays/getting cars ready etc. around that date.

Then with three weeks to go, the date changes. Classic Ford has just hit the news stands, so the next one will be out after the event and Retro Ford came out a week or two since so if lucky, the next issue may get the ad in with a day or two to spare... So, months of advertising has to be undone in a couple of days and good old word of mouth will have to do the rest!

There are plenty of other things on that day, some of the traders will have booked shows elsewhere, they will be in the same boat as some of the people on here, so sadly they will not be able to attend.

Safe to say that the club will lose money either way but if a good percentage of members, public and traders don't go, the event will be a shadow of its former self - all you need is a bit of rain and people will not give going a thought - especially as they now have a get out clause!

Another venue on the original date would have been a much better option imo, that would have kept members, traders and public happy and only the track people would have had a moan.

I know finding another venue is much easier said than done but did the timeframe of the meeting and the possible pressure from Donnington make this option impossible?

Very well put imo, spoke to a few long time members today and the general opinion is the club should have cancelled and looked forward to next year.

from what i am reading and people who i have spoke to it would be madness to continue and hold the event on the 13th as with very little knowledge of the date via magezine and advertising realy no one would know its been moved also a very large amount of car owners who are now NOT going to attend it would be a very poor turn out and could put people off from attending in the future as they might think that the standard of cars on display would be not as good as in previous years and could be bad for rsoc for years to come also many people travel from scotland ireland wales and europe to attend this event and book up well in advance for good deals and this would stop them from traveling best option would be a total cancell to avoid any more damage and aim for next year and even think about a total date change to maybe suit through school holidays and weather as we know in the past about the rain in september and have a safer bet in late july early august when the sun is out and lighter nights but have lost two flights booked to ema myself and no refund on hotel booking was coming with around 8 people who are all now not going to bother what you think ?

Emma phoned me from the RSOC tonight apolgising etc........ Fair play as she offered a full refund on my tickets as I cannot make the 13th .
I feel for the club and all the hard work that goes into organising these shows and now into re-organising them .
Well done the RSOC for being so pro-active I say and needless to say I am looking forward to 2010 show already !!!!!
