            Derek,

Don't sell it, as others have said you are nearly there. This is what old cars are about......a challenge!

Walk away from the thing and leave it a while, then when you feel like it, give it another go. Thinking time is what you need, your trying to solve it in a hurry!

I was there years ago when I changed a clutch, I ended up with an annoying vibration through the car. I thought I hade bent the gearbox shaft or something so I removed the box and stripped it down to find nothing wrong. I put it all together and the vibration was still there. I thought I was going mad, and in a conversation with a workmate he asked me what had I changed, so I replied the clutch, so his reply was to put the old one back in, which I did and the vibration had gone........I had fitted a faulty new clutch, it had not been balanced! Grrrrrrrrrrrr

Maybe I am saying you could return your brakes to standard and use that as a basis start from again, changing a bit at a time and seeing how it goes.

            Stick in there m8,

            Tim.

Stick with it. There are plenty of times that i have said to myself sell it and there will be alot more before it is on the road. But i leave it for a couple of days and then most of the time i can see the problem, or the part, panel just fits.....18 month and i am still on the body work- welding stage and that is a drag.. i cant wait to bolt parts on, but when i do will not be able to wait to drive it....Just think of the lakes tour and all them nice cars in the sun......and say one day. I WILL BE THERE..

                Hope it helps....

hi derek i have owned my mk2 for six years and had that feeling many times i walked away for a while came back and finished the job, on many occassion i had to ask for help to get those hard jobs done.what makes it worth it is taking your car to one of the shows, people comming up to you and telling you what a super car you have this is what makes all the hard and long nights worthwhile. If you sell the car someone else will finish it to your high standard then someday you shall see it somewhere or worse still on this forum and be totally gutted.

                    dont do it...cheers Steve.

                        LOL @ RUDDY

Seriously though mate, like said above maybe have a break from the car as im sure nearly every escort owner on here especially ones with alot on with there car will tell you the same thought would have crossed there mind...but when everything is done she will be well worth it like every oldskool escort is and you probably will never want to sell

Its up to you though although if you can keep her then you know what to do

                        Hope this helps...

I think we've all had the RS blues even on easy rebuilds and they are all money pits beats ****ing it against a wall ,as the others have said leave it for a while you'll probably regret selling as its a really nice looking car

                            cheers guys

thank guys for the inspiration. think I may just do that as I totalled up all the invoices and paypal receipts and she's costing me over £17k so defintley won't get more than half of that back in the current climate.

Anyway as the thread states, I think I would be a little pi**ed off seeing it driving about with a few hours left to finish it and mot the beast.

Had it in auto trader but cancelled it about 30 mins ago but no refund. (That'll teach me not to rush into things.)

So I contacted the bodyshop today about lifting it to finish it off, i.e it needs the bonnet painted again as there is 3 fisheyes on the front left hand corner and as he said at the time, he'd repaint it. Then machine polish the whole car again once its built. Any touch ups from putting her together he'd do foc because of the bonnet. A perfect bonnet and he got a reaction? but to be fair he's doing it again. So away it goes Tuesday 31-03-09.

Then he's arranged for a local graphic vehicle designer to call with him and put the decals on to finish it off and see her in her glory. (must get a new memory card for the camera)..

Thanks again to all replied. a good kick on the asre may have been needed.

                              Hi Derek,

Glad you seen sense. No point getting rid when you are nearly there. Took mine for a spin at the weekend even tho many a time I was close to getting rid also. Glad I did not tho. Anyway I need some reason to get a free cuppa tea after the shopping!!!!!!!!!!
