A very good point. The would be thief may be someone quite close.

You also have to consider how much information you give out publically, like on the net for instance.

Seems the lenghts they went to, they had some prior knowledge.

As Shaw Taylor would say "Keep 'em peeled".

Very lucky , they must have got spotted or something . I would move the car ASAP to be on the safe side mate .
My mates workshops roller shutter door got ram raided as well a few years back . The thieves couldn't see the 10inch RSJ concreted into the floor behind it though and we're still there in the morning !!!!!!! That taught them a lesson .

Thanks for the comments guys, car is seriously tucked away now.

Damage is minimal - will need boot lid sorting, drivers rear 1/4 sorting front passenger (where 1/4 bumper joins) sorting, and a new drivers side reverse light (or lens).

But still probably £500 - £600 worth of work to be done properly.

Will be claiming off the garage`s insurance so am going to see if I can chip in and get the whole car done.

It looks like they actually reversed slowly up to the shutter door until contact, then slowly pushed back until the door popped out of it`s runners. Luckily the door was `bolted` at the sides so it took some pushing, when it finally went it got stuck at an angle which did`nt allow the door to be lifted above the hieght of the car.

              cheers, Tony.

bloody scary the amount of trouble they went through to get your car. I would have considered that safe as hell in a place like that

In July '07 my s2 RST was stolen from my driveway, well, they broke into it, pushed it down the road well away from my house and ripped apart the wiring/steering lock/everything trying to get it started. Luckily my immobiliser was better than they were, but it was still a write off in the insurers eyes, i havent trusted anyone since. I dont have access to a garage at the mo so the best i can do with my mk1 xr2 is park it behind my other car so if they want to steal that they have to break into the other one first, not a great method but its the best i can do currently

Sorry to hear that happened to you and as others have said, at least you still have a car. Bloody theiving toerags make me so angry

                        my car in the vBGarage

It is scarey when you think they can break into a place like that. The biggest problem I see is that they turn up with a tow truck or breakdown wagon. Parked cars, wheel clamps, immmobilisiers, steering locks, secret devices, alarms etc, are all rendered useless then.

Two guys in a Merc stopped outside my house today as I was working on my car, they quickly asked me if I had seen a window cleaner about........what on a Sunday on mothers day? This kind of thing puts the s**ts up me. Only a week ago a couple of guys in a van stopped and stared while I was working on the car........could be nothing but you don't know!

Some of these yobs are very determined these days aren't they?...and that's what bothers me!

I think I would be keeping my digicam handy while working on my car, and anyone expressing interest would be blatantly photographed, number plates and all.

What is this world coming too?!?! It makes you wish that they bought back captial punishment!!!

Glad you've still got the car, it could have been much worse, but sorry about the damage.

Sounds to me that the b*****ds knew the car was there. When they come that prepared it is a miracle you still have the car!

I think I would feel paranoid blatantly taking pictures of them.......and even then I would have to be quick as they have gone in seconds!
