Mine has had two plates in the inner wings a new carpet and new headlights. The rest is as it was when it left the factory.
Original engine gearbox etc. Fully documented history and mileage.
I do not believe you can get more original than that after 35 years

how many of us given the choice would scrap it or re-shell it.i know what i would do.but then problems arise when people sell them on without being honest.it would be interesting to know if anybody has been taken too court after buying a fake car.the same thing is happening to lotus cortinas and mini coopers

A MK1 RS2000 gets stripped as the shell is getting a bit rusty in the late 1980's and all the parts are fitted into a clean 1100L . The empty shell then sits in the barn for 20 years until one day it's no longer worthless and gets rebuilt with all new panels . The owner fits all the 1100L bits he's got left over into the RS2000 and starts driving it about . So what's the "RS" out of the two ? Is it the repaired "RS" shell with the 1100L running gear or the 1100L shell with all the "RS" bits on it ?
Most people will say it's the 1x bodyshell/chassis that's the "RS" and not the hundreds of mechanical and trim parts now fitted into the 1100L bodyshell .
So if it's the bodyshell that's the "RS" and not the hundreds of mechanical parts + trim pieces then this means that cutting up the original bodyshell and totally rebuilding it is also a "fake" then maybe .
Then again i can't really see any difference between a top notch reshell from an 1100L body with the few extra "RS" strengthing plates welded on compared to a re-panelled and re-built top notch resto using only the original cars roof and pillars .
So as you can see , a "fake" is a hard thing to class these days so i prefer the "Triggers Broom" descripition best .sigpic 2.1 ATMO YB POWER .

went to look at an rs2000 today , quite a nice car . the owner carries onto say its registered with the avo club, it says rs on the logbook and i have both the build plates for the car its an original mk1 rs2000.
looking around it for about 2 mins there are no bolts in the boot no flitch fillets no strengthening on the bottom of the towers etc etc .
fake or what .
fake of course and walked away after making a miserly offer of course, after all it would have been rude not to

The shell isn't too bad but something that was bugging me was the studs/bolts for the rear stone deflector, they looked like they were a bit on the long side & seemed to be of a course thread. Am I correct in thinking that these should be a UNF/fine thread ?? Can someone confirm ?
The rest of the shell lookslike all the correct strengtheners etc are there.David

So most people will agree that to be a genuine "RS" the bodyshell at least needs to be factory produced as an "RS" . Even if most of the original parts are missing the shell is the "RS" and not the mechanical parts . When viewing the holy grale models (BDA's , Lotus) they must be very carefully checked over as most are "triggers brooms" and will have been done to a very high standard compared to the other models because they are worth much more money .
Even then the "Triggers broom" twin cam/BDA cars are still the same as a "genuine" car would be (look the same , drive the same , sound the same , same parts etc) it's just that people shelling out £25,000+ on an old escort twin cam/BDA will still always want a "genuine" one .
Don't forget that BDA + Twin Cam models were mostly used as rally cars when new so 95% of them were re-shelled even after 5 mins !!!!!!!!!sigpic 2.1 ATMO YB POWER .

A genuine RS is a Ford factory built car. I think that there's nothing wrong with changing rusted panels as they are Fords and built in the 6o's and 70's build quality was poor more so with the mark 2's being built in Germany. Mark 1's were definately built to a better standard with better steel.
Regarding all models they were built to be used hard thats why there is a premium to pay with the 100% original cars as they are scarce.
Plenty of re-shells and fakes around just copies not orginal genuine cars dressed up 1100 Pops as I said before.
