Not really paul, loads of people onhere think that spending 6k on standard mk 2 is the be all an end all of it.

Fact is, standard mk2's are utter shit.

Aving owned bout 10 of them in the last 16 years i can compare through it all ......LOL

Each to there own i'd say, i would not pay 29 k for it as the spec of it to built would cost you less than 20k.

But having built a few i have no idea what i am talking about LOL

but everytime you come here its too hurl abuse about peoples cars, so you have spent loads on yours ? and does that make it any better I think not!

My mates got a Ferrari racer, which makes yours look like cheap stuff too but so what, saying your back axle costs £3500 my watch costs that and more, it does not make everyone elses inferior, it tells the time like everyone elses, same as your axle makes the wheels able to hold the car off the ground and turn

I went in a mk2 over here that cost £75000 thats nearly 3 of yours ???

and if MK2's are utter s**** why do you keep buying them then ? and then modifying them, spending so much money on such a crappy car!!!

                  well said Brian.

Dingy, at the time I was thinking of buying Andys old car, not knocking it at all but some people hold a higher value on a car that is standard. Its all down to what you want and what you are into.

                  Mine stands me in £**K

All that matters is we love our car no matter what state of tune its in.

But not a very good one these days, the last one I was after went for quite a bit over 20K (to Ireland...of course - they all seem to end up there, just like LVX has!)

                      Cheers

Brian "The voice of reason" - gets it spot on once again.

Steve - as Brian says - Stop giving it the large one :winky:
                        Cheers Rob.

Sorry Mr. Dingy if I upstag....upset you, was a bit out of ordrer saying that and I apologise. It's just that in my book (and it takes all sorts to make a world eh!) overly modifying a MK2 RS in this day and age is tantamount to sacrilege (or however you spell it?). And yes; I would rather have a box standard RS 1800 road car (for instance) over the one at question here. Sorry....

PS: Yep; I am most definately a sad peep (such a compliment that!!), also restore ex-BR Diesel locomotives, lorries, tractors, Cat dozers......the list goes on

i can see both sides, having seen two £80k cars in classic ford over the last 8 months, i am not surprised that sorted cars are changing hands for big money, but if money wasnt an issue, you'd have one standard car and one hi spec anyway....... i wouldn't slag off anybodys views!

Hey; if money wasn't an issue, it would be a Bell Jetranger anyday of the week........but seriously, not being a speed demon, I have to say my reason for liking RS MK2s is for the character and general flair of the cars - certainly not (specifically) for what it has under the bonnet and how fast we can potentially get it to go with all of today's vastly powerful technology..

I guess I'm your average flat capped, tweed jacket wearing, pipe smoking, Terry Thomas style classic car enthusiast. Takes all sorts eh!!
