    Nobody too famous but:

My mate Hugh in Brunters, on a "suicide run" in his Caterham. Very fast and completely nuts. Not particularly quick though.

His mate Ray in my RS2000. Smooth and very quick.

Custom and Scrote also at Bruntingthorpe. Fast and controlled.

2quick4you Mark in 3 door Sierra Cossie - big heavy car. Big heavy occupants

Lakes Tour 2008. A memorable blast for 25 miles. Those who were there know,

Never sat with anyone famous but AndyG's quite good, even in the diesel focus, works van...1300 escort in 1987 (when he actually WAS Ari Vatanen, you know). Cammy's bloody quick but slightly scary ( As I'm sure anyone who's ever tried it would testify)

When I was driving the courtesy cars on the RAC Rally when it was in Cheltenham I had the pleasure of driving Ari Vatenen, Bertie Fisher, Piarre Laitte(spelling), Kenneth Errikson and a few more lesser known drivers whose names escape me. I have to say the most friendly by far was Ari. Picked him up at his hotel at 5am to take him to the start for day 2 and he was the perfect gentlman talking about me mainly.
Kenneth wasn't very talkative, mind you he had just binned it on stage 1 at the racecourse so understandable really

Mex it in the Mexican round Donington about 4 years ago.

He saw off the entire field of turbo whizz bangs with very little effort
            Cheers Rob.

Who is the best driver that you have personally sat in a car with and what did they do to make you realise that they were something a bit above the ordinary? It need not be somebody famous, just tell us all who you really rate as a superb driver and why.
For me it was Phil Collins, who back in the early eighties used to hire out group 4 Escorts to people like Dai Llewellyn. Cut a long story short, I did my work experience week from school for Collins Cars and the highlight of the week was Friday night when I was strapped into a group 4 Escort for the first time as Phil took it for a blast to make sure it was performing properly before going out on hire the next day. Phil's party piece was to deliberately spin the car while flat out in fifth so you ended up travelling backwards at very very high speed, all carried out under total control while carrying on a relaxed conversation through the intercom. An awesome driver who still regularly mixes it with WRC cars in his mk2
you aint too bad .... but i really want to sit next to frosty after seeing his talents .............

I went out with a couple of BTTC drivers at MIRA courtesy of Monroe shocks many moons ago in (of all things) a mk3 Astra GSI, but im buggered if i can remember who they were now.
But My mate smiffy in his cossie mk1 at brunters old skool track day was the ride that flicked my switch, hes just bloody awsome with what ever he gets his hands on cars, bikes, bmx's LOL,just about bloody anything!
Just keep having visions of flat out down the straight, slight lift and a flick, nailed it again BIG sideways the whole of the big bend and all of the way up the other side to the chicanes where he proceeded to slide powering on all the waywhilest over taking two other slightly nervous drivers. theres some videos somewhere, may be you tube

                          Fastest ride ?

One of the fastest rides I ever had was with Harri Toivonen,
I had met Harri on 5 or 6 times when he came to the UK with Henri to watch and help. But i took KWT 556V out to Finland for Peter Clarke /Atso Aho to do the 1980 Hanki Rally .Harri met us at the ferry terminal from the Sjlia line boat ,and we went to the Toivonens underground garage in Helsinki which we were using as a base.Harri then came and picked us up and said he would show us around Helsinki,.So first stop was Ari Vatenens garage and met Ari,s main mechanic and friend, then to the Kometa tyre works to see how studded tyres were built.THEN he said ,right we go to pick MY race car up (he referred to it as a race car rather than a rally car). What had happened was that Pauli paid for all Harri,s rallying and Pauli was away so Harri had done a rally father did,nt know about and had an off .The car he had was the ex Henri Avenger, with 2litre Brazilean block engine. At that time they were very scarce ,but Des O,Dell had got Henri one.We went about 30 km deep into the middle of what seemed like a very large forest to a big shed.He goes in comes out with the car,and says right Barry you come with me,my friend will take the Audi back.
The ride back to Espoo was out of this world.,car control like you have never seen before, middle of February deep in snow with big snow banks, very Quiet roads ,he seemed to know all the drivers we passed.
That ride will stay with me forever,Henri told me that Harri could beat him when they were ice racing (In winter the rivers and lakes are frozen over SO they have races down them) hope the story didnt bore you !
