  • 2.1 long rod pinto on throttle bodies

    hello
long time since ive had a moment to post on here, well i have finally got time to put my engine for my van on the dyno. here is the spec of it
2.1 pinto, 136mm long rods, short comp accralite pistons ( we are doing these to test them and they are the production spec ones with a 20.63mm gudgeon pin).11.1-1 comp ratio.big valve head.bf63 cam, new std crankshaft fully balanced to motor bike tolerences,OMEX ecu,OMEX loom, 45mm throttle bodies,no dizzy just oil pump drive ,new test sample rs2000 sump,hp/hc oil pump, built by guy turner of GTmotorsport/BURTONPOWER, tested at RACE ENGINE CALIBRATION,
we got it up to 183bhp at 7000rpm and it was ot fully mapped at that point. we expect about 190bhp from it when we tweak it in the van and also take it up to the bf63 cams top level 9000rpm.. i will put the video of the van on the rollers as soon as we get it done(have to do 200 miles first)

    pinto

forgot to put on there that the engine also has the test casting for rs2000 sumps that burtons are have remade in the very near future. it is also the test bed for the throttl bodie kit that is getting ready for release.

        pinto

so far so good , the sump is fine, the rods and pistons make a lot of difference to how it revs , it picks up proper fast due to a massive rod angle decrease and less piston to bore thrust and the tb's are nice as it will give a better overal fuel and be nicer to drive.

          Hi Guy,

has the head been flowed? From this setup I would expect well over 200 bhp.
          Good luck on the rollers!

          Leon.

              hello
its not possible to get 200bhp from a bf63 cam it just does not have the lift and duration for it, we have built lots of engines with it in of all specs and have never seen one pull that amount.. i did think of putting a ht1 or gts4 cam in.i expect the engine to pull 190bhp with the final set up . i did not go onto the bigger cams as it is a everyday car that its going in and i need the low down grunt.

Top work mate , engine revs great and should really fly . I have race cams in my street car and it still drives nice because of the Omex 600 full engine management . Try a race cam in your engine as it will still drive nice if the mappings done properly .
sigpic 2.1 ATMO YB POWER .
Tick tock goes the clock and the clock don't lie .
12.4sec to 109mph With NO turbo , NO gay trailer , NO slicks , NO gas , NO race fuel and NO bits missing . Beat that !!!!

                  Hi,

have seen 2 engines that did (just) 200 bhp with the BF63 in a 2 liter Pinto on carbs. So I guessed an 2.1 engine with TB's would make more.
Aren't the HT1, the GTS4 and also the BF63 sort of clones of the old RL2 but with more lift?

they are all similar to the rl2 but a bit more refined. i would love to see the dyno sheets for them as i would like to see the correction factors as the majority of people change them so it gives more power. we always take the readings as its run so we can give a true realistic figure. most of our engines when tested on other peoples dyno/rollers come out with more power, the throttle bodies would not give more top end power but more torque all the way throught the rev range . also i am not running massive comp ratio. if i had set it at 11.6-1 i would have seen more. but we still havent taken it to the 8000rpm cam limit and it is not fully mapped yet. so i will post the final results up when i have them. thats if i ever get time to fit the damn thing.lol.
