not to bad,are you going for dsg or manual, clutches are crap dual mass fly wheels are crap front wishbone bushes split easily with little milage, miles better than the diesels maybe not as good on fuel but less likey to break downnthe diesels fast but shit, turbo's frequently fail & as said before clutches fly wheels bushes the gti seems to be about the best but there are proberly less sold good luck if you need any info let me know,by the way i work for a vw main dealer so info is a plenty
i've got one and love it late 05 one got it 8 months ago with 10k on the clock and fully loaded too
drives and handles really well and loads better than the mk4 i had before but when you put your foot down it drinks the petrol (just like my escort) but good on a long run
Paul, I had one from new, and I can honestly say it's probably the best handling front wheel drive car i've driven. I did 15k in 8 months in it, and the only thing that went wrong was a faulty air-bag sensor.
I was brave and ordered a candy white one!! It looked great (IMO) but did take a while to sell when I wanted to shift it! They need the 18" wheels and mine had leather which gives you heated seats, which was nice! 3 doors look prettier than 5 too.
Hi Paul

alas kids came along and hes in a bora now,if you are seriously thinking about one i can pm you a number for another m8 that works in a main dealer therefore can tell you faults to look for
