Don't do it! Given you've replaced so much, at some point it must work! Have faith..

(Running for cover) I can see the attraction of driving something new as it would be nice to know you can drive without the risk of stuff falling off, but there's not alot of point going for a 3 door as realistically they are 15 odd yrs old so I'd expect your mk2 would be more reliable as with a 3 door your buying an unknown entity....

          Stick with it boyo!

Keep it Eddie ,how many cars can you repair at home with modest tools and knowledge. Ive had a few problems recently but thats part of the cars and fun You`ll get plenty of help on here.
Wife has a pug 307cc just over 2 years old and thats been in and out the garage about 10 times in 18 months of having it (heap of sh1t)
As has been said ,if you have a problem walk away for a while and come back to it ,can be frustrating but great fun when going.

                        Keep the faith.

To put it in context....A MK2 head gasket replacement costs about £100 for someone to do it for you or under £20 if you do it yourself
My Cosworth one has just cost me over £400 to do and now needs a new Turbo
