my brother had a white mk1 and his best mate had a white mk2 when i was about 6 years old, they were parked in next doors garden side by side and i remember thinking they were smart while i was looking through the fence

my brother told me a couple of years ago that he bought the mk1 from a local scrappy for £50, it had a cage, buckets and a really lumpy pinto which he said was really fast and it eventually shook itself to bits

i'd wanted a white mk2 since i was about 10 so i had to get one

Had my first mk2 when i was 18 , rolled it five times into a field then had to save up for my next mk2 which turned out to be a rot box !!!
purchased my first RS a red mk 2 mexico ONY 889 R when i got my first full time job at 19.
          had various mk2 / mk1 escorts xr3 , xr2 's since then, returned to mk2 RS2000 MON 200P in approx 1993.
I restored this then sold it to pay for IVF which never happened as the mrs got pregnant without it !!!!
purchased XAL 655S in 2004 after a 5 year break from RS 's in which i never lost the bug !!!
          cheers tim.

been into escorts for ages - subconciously from a very early age - the white and black scalextric cars were the ones to have for a race, so we always used to look out for the cars on the roads -

dad had a yallow dolly sprint when i was 7 and that was it, again looking out for the sporty cars on the road

did have a faze of lusting after an orange super mirifiori when i was about 10 cos there was always one parked outside Caffyns Fiat dealership in bmth

brothers mates dad had a car importing thing going on and the son had a pick of the good stuff - used to do rallying in a mk2 and had a lovely arched talbot sunbeam (v quick)

brother had a silver harrier for about a year, which i had off him when he got a A reg xr3i in 1988

rs 2000 came in 1989, got to meet, troll, richy c and brett, etc. from then onwards, the rest is history .....................

also remember a certain red 18 coming to the cooper dean pub for a group meet

I was in Eddie torrance scrap yard in Northen Ierland 1973 with a cousin of mine when the owner came into the yard in a bran new silver and blue mk1 rs2000. that was the first rs i had seen on the road.I swore that one day i would own one. Roll on to 1978 when i got my first mk1 a white four year old 13L Quarter bumpers four cibies and 5,5 steelies. 1980 i got a modena green Mexico followed by two mk1 RSs then two broad stripe mk11 RSs. This brought me to the mid eighties and that was that untill four years ago when i bought my vista RS.

My mate uncle had a red mk1 mex when we were about 11-12 years old, he had silver RS2 stripes painted on which he liked but remember it took him ages to sell it (back in late 70's)

Got my 1st car at 18 (4dr 1.1 escort) 1 prev owner, brown metallic!
2nd at 19 was a shabby 1300E which became a mexico (every part swapped over inc box) with bubble arches, looked ace.

Then after coming out of my appreticeship I treated myself to a proper mk2 RS 2000 custom (DVN 201V) used to concourse her about 87-89.

Also had a mk1 mex at the same time as didnt want to use DVN in the rain

Sold the mex to a mate for £1500, DVN was p/exed at Mike youngs for a mint RS1600i (this car still with the lad I sold it to)

Then got married, so RS sold for house deposit (how many went this way back then eh)

After years of mundane motors, got back into classics, now run a very nice 1 prev owner fiat coupe 20vt.

Had a very original Jag XJ6 series 3, but made the mistake of going to RS day at Croft & just knew I wanted another RS!

                                So Jag now sold

Now have another RS 2000 custom but its not as good as the seller said but will get there in the end.

                                Peter.
