you aren't gonna believe me on this, but i think my head gasket has gone/is going again
last thursday i took it out to bed the new brakes in, and on my way home in traffic the revs dropped off and the engine became lumpy, when home i teaked the idle to keep the thing running. i took it into work today to try to make my mind up what is going on, and when i got home the lumpyness was worse and the idle screw needed tweaking again to keep it running, i richened the mixture screws half a turn to help pick the idle up so i could do more investigating, and as before cylinders 3 and 4 are very weak, when i pull the HT lead off each one the engine barely notices, infact with 3 and 4 off together it happily bounced around and when i put them back on only minimal improvement was noticed.
i know it was running too much ign advance which prolly killed the last two gaskets off, and this one was subjected to a few hundred miles with incorrect timing, but now that was all sorted i thought i'd be ok, well it appears not
now i have two choices, grab a gasket tomorrow from ford and swap it over weds/thursday evening and set off friday panicing if its gonna make the trip to the dam
or f**k it, take the daily hack, stay calm and sort it when i get back
i am happy ( reasonably ) to try one more gasket now that the timing is correct, but if it goes again i'll have to whip it out, get it checked out and rebuilt
not a happy bunny, was well excited too for this weekend
