i think the price of parts going up and up ! puts our cars at greater risk of being stolen !! like you say they are worth more in parts than the worth of the car mine will never be left alone anywhere !

I don't know about that, I won't pay anything for bits. I also think using rare NOS bits just to have a minter despite the bits on the car being in vgc is a tad wasteful too.

Where I can concur however is that these parts did cost a fair old whack back along when the cars were new or as replacement parts up to 15 years ago and why should the base of parts that gets ever smaller mean that stuff be cheaper than the new price.

Trouble is people with (often) more money than sense "must have" mentality ruining it for the rest, I usually manage to pick up what these days can be described as bargains but usually only because I'm lucky on the day and resist the urge to pay whatever is "necessary" to get stuff come what may

I've had to pay silly money for something today but it's a case of if u want or need it then you pay it or else go without.

too right, do your homework. there are other places to get parts from, only thing i got off ebay when i done mine was a rear seat, rest was from shows or specialist supliers.

I got a NOS boot lock for about €10 and a set of Gp1 allys with P&P for €155, so the bay does throw up the odd "bargain" you just need a bit of luck and not overspend your budget.

It's like going to buy a kitchen or the like, if you've got a budget of say 5K and the first three shops you go into only do a shite one for 5 K you don't say oh well I suppose we'll have to spend 15 K then do you?

It is a lot of money to sacrifice just for the feel-good factor of the admirers at the shows isn't it?

i built a concourse mexico 16 years ago cost me £12000 to build sold it for £3000 market value , it was built for the love of it and not for profit,i could have spent considerably more down the pub if i hadnt of given up the booze.
at the same time i had a lovely riviera blue rs2 custom tried to sell it for ages for £1800 , but no takers in the end i broke her up for nearly £3000.
so the situation has always been here and will always be the same perhaps the prices may go up maybe they will go down who knows who cares i just love the cars .
maybe i will break down my twin cam for spares
