I know where yous are coming from i'm only a third of the way through my project ,and i'm scared to total what i've spent and i'm not going the concourse route just nice and useable .Prices have gone through the roof ,one good thing is that through forums like this you can still buy at reasonable prices and not get ripped of by genuine members who are there to help others

Serious question but has anyone had a bulk re-manufacture done in China or Turkey?
I'm about 6 years out of touch so apologies if it has been done, just that alot of my suppliers in work that are in China will make anything!!LOL

the thing is it will cost alot of money to get done and if it's not right no one will buy it so you lose out big time...but like i said befor they do come up on ebay and most of us have them already so the numbers will never add up

Its always been the same as regards it costs more to buy everything and build an escort than the value of the finished article. Surely this only matters if the car is being built to make money? If the aim of building a car is for the owners/builders enjoyment and/or use afterwards then should the only thing that matters or not be wether or not it is affordable to the owner and wether or not they are satisfied with their own cost/value/enjoyment equation?

As to NOS parts, does it really matter if a scarce part is used as long as the car either looks 100% if your into buftying or performs 100% if your into driving your car

i tried to win a item on ebay the first time it sold for £40 the second time it sold for over £50, i spoke to the trader who would only sell the item on ebay. in the end i waited untill donington spares day and got the same item from another trader for only £10. every thing i have won on ebay seems over priced.

i was chatn to a man at the show on sunday who had a fairly straight RS2000 4sale and was thinkn on breaking it cause it wud make more in parts on ebay so it doz seem the wat people are thinkn at the presant time.so i think we will see more cars dissapear over the next while which is a cryn shame to think that people will break half descent cars just so they can make more money out of the present time on ebay which has put the prices through the roof. thank god we have a very gud man who only breaks cars that is beond repair and isnt charging through the roof prices.

Paul, your car will look absolutely amazing I am sure. But, (and I don't want to sound rude) don't you need to take a step-back and wonder why you are investing so much money in it if the re-sale value will not be there? It is a lot of money to sacrifice just for the feel-good factor of the admirers at the shows isn't it?

Oh, by the way....I hope your Flu gets better soon

                            mk2s

I've always built my escorts, not worring about cost of parts...its my hobby simple as that.

If i was concerned about the cost of parts i would'nt own a ford.

At least the cars are worth more money nowadays.

As most performance parts etc, were similar prices years ago.,just flick through a old Burtons advert.

Its just nos that big money, only because its getting fitted onto our cars!!

another perspective is, more often than not, people are bidding on individual items which means they will pay anything for that part. Paying £30-£40 for something that in reality cost £1, 25 years ago is irrelavant. Again, how much does a Focus rear lense cost ?? today. So why should a genuine Ford Butlers or Altissimo lense cost any less ??. In fact it should be more expensive simply because their a dying breed. Ebay does funny thngs to people, ive seen it many times. Its somethng i certainly i wont be getting involved with again. However, i do have great memories.

we,ve only got ourselves to blame, if we keep buying the spares at crazy
prices we only encourage people to steal, scam and try selling mutton dressed as lamb . it also has stopped me selling on spares i dont really need at the moment because i could never afford to replace them in the future and i,m sure a lot of people are doing the same thing .i think we have to step back and rethink before it spirals out of control ,at the end of the day we,ll be the ones to suffer....
