I might as well chip in since everyone else is. I always thought the idea of an auction was to get as much as possible, ie whatever the buyer was willing to pay. I myself have paid over the odds to get a part that i was desperate for, to finish a car that was worthy of it in my opinion. Who are we to judge what anyone wants to pay. Let them get on with it. Lets see more ( and better) MK2`s on the road. Rant over.

Calm down , calm down .......we're all friends on here , don't turn into the RSOC BB (bit bitchy of me)
Just to put my oar in , I have bought off ebay in the past for RS parts , like RS Custom says, set yourself a price and stick to it , if you loose out find another . Just like when I beat Dave to a 69 litre tank by 50p , even if the guy did mail it to Dave afterwards by mistake !!!!!!sigpic

Well said, Ruddy!
I've now been reborn - I thought it was only fuddy-duddy old me that finds the RSOC BB extremely distasteful. I'm probably a relic of a past age of short trousers and school caps but I find it so nice to exchange on the 'net without every second word being f**k or c**t ! ('cept for ...... no, I'm not gonna name names!)
Anyway, I'm off to put the kettle on and slip into my M&S carpet slippers now!

I guessed Gary was H75AB, I know Daves eBay name and many others - they are all set in "My Ebay" so I can keep a check on what's going on.
Nobody has got anything to be ashamed of, or anything to hide, the more people know what's for sale the better as far as I am concerned. It is good advertising - and free to boot.
We are all enthusiasts who have a love of Mk2 Escorts, I , like most others have paid over the odds (and these are my own self imposed odds by the way) for parts that I HAD to have.
I wish Gary the very best of luck (and no I am not being insincere) in all of his auctions both still running and in the future.
Nobody is ripping others off - as has been said it is an AUCTION, and when people pay a lot of money for an item ; that is there perogative, who are we to judge ?

Originally posted by dasadrewFoMoCo, it's strange that you consider me to be an eBayer who is willing to pay over the odds for items, who has even paid (apparently) a platinum price for one of your items, but you are not concerned about annoying me with your comments. The customer isn't always right, but he's always the customer and sometimes the seller should just bite the bullet and laugh all the way to the bank.
I don't think it was necessary to publish my eBay Alias alongside my RSII Username on a public bulletin board.
The comment made on "platinum" accelerator pedals ensued after a discussion whether they should be called rubber or plastic and was made in jest. This should be no reason to suggest fetishism on my part.
I DO have virtually unlimited resources for buying bits as you imply but,
unless you want to p.m. me to smooth the waves, you can form your own opinion as to whether those resources will be spent on your parts in the future!
I am not trying to annoy you, that would be how i felt when i saw this post
linked to my listing and telling anybody that read it that they were way over priced. That can only cost me bids.
The platinum reference was made months ago with my listing of i think it was the fuel line clips.
Your ebay name has been edited from my post.
I did not imply anything about your resources that would be none of my business,as for the pm i wont hold a grudge with anybody in this thread
if you want to bid on my items that is completly up to you, my point from the start.

OK, FoMoCo. You obviously want to win this one, so I capitulate now. You're right. eBay is there to get as much money as you can out of stuff. It's a great shame when bidders get scared off thus reducing the sum achieved. You're right all the way. I agree wholeheartedly.
I was living in a dreamworld where I was using eBay as a nice way to avoid throwing surplus in the dustbin and have even given away leftovers free after non-bidding for the price of the postage to interested parties who mailed me.
I didn't realise (honestly! I know it sounds naïve!) that 30 year old Escort parts can mean real dollars. You have, in actual fact, done me a favour as, when my resto's finished I've got 2 x NOS 69 ltr tanks, 2 x 44IDF Filter Boxes, 8 x 44IDF Filters and a few other rarities which will go on eBay with the maximum publicity and a good reserve!
Thanks again (no, I really mean it!) for waking me up from my quaint little Hobbit village existence. And just to show we're chums again - OF COURSE I'll bid on items you've got if I need them!
Bye for now!

Rob - I personally dont mind anyone knowing my user name either, which is a bit of a giveaway "Ders1888", its just that some like to remain annonymous and thats there decision. Anyway, less of this pish and back to important stuff, have you any stickers made for a genuine RS alternator? And do you still want a genuine quality control sticker for the boot to get copied?
