I didn't miss out but my sis did, we went to Bristol to look at and buy a 1 owner Sebring 1300 Sport as my sisters first motor, the doctor's son had used it while at uni, but it was still pretty tidy and we offered to buy it on the spot. Some t@sser from the SEOC demanded coming down country to look at it and as the doc had given his word not to sell before the he came to look at it, he waited and the other bloke bought it.

All fairly reasonable you may think.................................

well yes disappointed we were, but then a couple of months later the t@sser sold it on again, he just had to have the car, but after buying it obviously got bored very quickly, and my sis missed out. It really boiled my pi**

had a chance to buy an RS1800 for @£2400 in 1991, Chrisp who occasionally visits this site had first offer and bought it.

also, could have bought a 6R4 new in the late 1980's for £14k (lot of money then, still is )when BL were getting rid of them as group B was banned.

If we all knew then what we know now i'm sure all of us would have mothballed a couple of motors. Now where's that crystal ball!!!

The car i most regret not buying was the MK1 RS 2000 estate that Smudger owns on the AVO owners club website, the lad who originally owned it worked with my father, and i was given the oppportunity to have a good look around it when it was getting resprayed in a friends garage, but we weren`t sure what it was at the time,it had everything that a MK1 RS2000 saloon car has(tramp bars, electric fan, close ratio gearbox,RS interior)the only thing it didn`t have was the AVO plate. We were offered it for £1500,but twenty years ago for a car we weren`t sure about was alot of money, but as they say cest le vie, regards Gixer1000.

Too right it was a shame I turned it down, but to a 20 year old lad ,still doing his apprenticeship on crap wages it was alot of coin for a car no-one really knew whether it existed or not,it was only after i asked questions in Rallye News that it was confirmed when some-one from Ford rang me up and confirmed its rarity, regards Gixer1000

the one i was most gutted at missing out on was about 92/93 when i was 16 went to look at a silver harrier totaly mint apart from needing n/s/r wheel arch and 1 owner from new, it was going for £200 as the lady was moving abroad and couldnt take it with her.
As a lot have said if i knew then what i know now would have bought it in a flash.
