Finally got the car back tonight, Had a quick look and all seemed fine. Payed the bloke on line, Job done. Decided to have a look at the work done. To my horror I find that the wings were never taken off just the rails cut out where the cracks were, new metal shittily welded in with no attempt to make it look "Invisible" like instructed. Further inspection revealed the horror of horrors, Where he has welded in the new tower strengthener behind on the strut cuo I find that it is all rotted through and no attempt has been made to effect a repair so thus this is a MOT failure big style (Due on Saturday) He was also asked to replace ONLY the weak part in the front drivers floor pan but has replaced the whole pan section and not that brilliantly as well upon further inspection.
I am completely ****ed off and highly dissapointed at the moment as he was the lad who originally did the body work on the car when I had it restored a couple of years ago and made a great job. He knows what my car is all about and how I like things done and to what standard. He was left instructions to take the wings off (Which he said he had on the phone) and to effect "Invisible" repairs to which he insured me he would. I have now lost all enthusiasm for it at the moment and have left it in the garage in disgust and retracted my payment to him. Here's a pic of what I found.......

Now I want to know what can I do about this?? I really don't want to fall out with him but it looks like I already have.....

i'm gutted for you mate , but its not the cars fault so go and give her some love now, the bloke has not carried out the work as requested and he has not done what he said he had done , so you are well within your rights to not paying him , if i was you i'd look for a new bloke to complete the work , not easy i now , if he gets upset about it bo££0cks to him, he said he had done what you asked but he obviosly tried to rip you off mate , sorry again kev , but go and hug the car know its not her fault , Graham

Go see him tomorrow. Tell him you are not happy and why. See what he says. Give him a chance to put it right.

Real shame that Kev, what makes it worse is its a mate. Talk to the guy it might be that he got a lacky to do some of the work especialy as such a nice job was done before.Disapointed is a real meaningful word when a mate takes the pi55, hope you get some joy .

Cheers lads, Rodders, Will ring you in a mo mate. Brian, that pic is looking up into the strut tower from below to where the strengthening brace is if you know what I mean. Will have words tomorrow and see what can be sorted but not overly confident I must say. Am I within my rights to withold the entire payment?

Shocking. Get round there with the car, and give him chance to explain, and put the work right. Good money requires good work, and more importantly trust.
                          Hope it gets sorted Kev

F'in wan.er!Why is it these places have such a problem getting a job done right? Bet he took your money off you sharp enough! Can't even begin to tell you how many problems i've had with body shops over the years! If your 100% you asked him to do it as you say and hes done the job like this, nail him!Get the Rac to check the work standard if you get no joy from him.I did this in the past to great effect(After i lost it and threatened to stick my arm down his throat, not the best idea cause it wont sort out your car)
