All E30 M3's are 4 cylinder and LHD.
There have been some converted, but not by BMW.
If it was a 6 cylinder car then it was either a 320i sport or a 325i sport possibly with an MTEC kit on it, such as side skirts front air dam and boot spoiler. Leather seats and different steering wheels were all options too.
A good mate of mine has a couple of these, and they are almost as good as the M3.
The M3 uses a different body shell to the regular 2 door E30 models, the rear window has a different rake, the front windscreen is bonded in instead of being on a rubber, the boot lid is different etc etc etc.
I've researched these quite a bit as I was going to buy one a few years ago, but could only find high mileage snotters at the time.

Do you know if there is a buyers guide somewhere i can download on these cars i.e, to check what models there is, colours available, what to look out for so its not a copy etc!

Forgot to say and this includes the rs's as well, I was telling a lad at work earlier that i was thinking of buying an E30 M3, of which he replied will that not fall in to the 300-400 quid bracket for the Vehicle Tax yearly.
Will our Rs's be in the same bracket?
what is exactly getting hit, is it only 4x4's or is it going on the size of engine for fuel consumption?

Frank Sytner has a touring car version one of these. Awesome. See it about Nottingham every now and again. Very nice cars these but never interested me really. Most parts are still available from BMW for these but you have to take your log book into them as proof of ownership because they won't sell you anything without it......

Why won't they sell anything to you without proof of ownership?

As far as true specials though it's possibly not such a bad idea.
