Dave, three months ago i sold my 25kilo Pioneer Reference point amp, 28kilo reference point single disc CD player, Dual Golden one, piano key finish deck, Mission 753 floor speakers for £1800 on the bay, cost me just under £7k in 92, just wasn,t being used anymore, got a 10,000 record Ipod with a Bose docking station, much easier to live with. Having said that, when i took the amp half way, the signal was superb, it also helped to continue Worthers, truth be known.
Dave, i think it was £249.99 from John Lewis, would recommend it, having said that, as you know, these things are also being upgraded and mine is probably ancient by now and its only about a year old comes with a dinky remote and you can also get them in black now ....and no, mine isn,t Tuscan

If you are upgrading I will swap you for my NOS bottom hose !
Dont buy Bose !!! inflated over price equipment over rated systems.
Ex Owner of a AM16 its like putting a 1.6 back in a Mexico that has had a 2.0.
When I had got my old Castle Speakers back from my Dad (been using them for the last seven years I relised how much of the sound was missing from the Bose system, the boses lack detailed. The only thing I like about them was th size of the cubes.
Best way to start buying a new system is to make the choice of what is going to be the main source of use, Home Theater or music then work from there.
still crave for my old Meridian DSP 5000 system I had before the EX didnt pay her tax bill, had to sell that in 1995; was the only way to have a Dolby Digital system back then.
i ditched my sepperates system and use iether my sony dvd player with surround speakers or my ipod with harman kardon speaks (which looks and sounds the nuts ) and cheaper than the bose one
had, well still got, but its wrapped in the loft now, and it was the top of the range at the time, Bang and Olufsen, with excellent turntable which i miss playing the old black discs huge system and sound was brill.
We moved house 3 years ago and was no place for this monster so we got a Denon system again its great, but technology keeps changing and we feel that this is out of date now.
