              What's a Group One sumpguard?
We all used the Gartrac "works" type guard (except for the different rear mounting bar to accommodate a Pinto engine).
Guards were free in all Groups.

Not "Group 1" though, just a "Ford" guard.

It may be worth mentioning also that the part of the original Ford "Escort Rally Preparation" book that refers to Group 1 was something written by Henry Inurietta in very early days and bears no relation whatsoever to the definitive spec RS2s used in Group 1 from 1976 onward. (that's official homologated spec of course...what actually fell off or got added to Group 1 cars between pre-event and post-event scrutineering is another story entirely...!).
That RS catalogue also refers to the Gp1 Atlas as the "Narrow Atlas". All this "Baby Atlas" stuff we now see is a term created by aftermarket suppliers many years later and was never Ford terminology.

                              thats a steel one,

i thought the group one guards were made by tech del, had one on my mk1, the fittings were different, used the same holes that go thro the chassis rails at front where the anti roll bar body bracket fixes
