Is modding a mk2 not now cool...

Seems like more and more standard cars are the way forward is modding your mk2 not the way to do things these days ?

I mean a standard one is slow, doesn't handle, doesn;t stop......


Whats the way forward for this car.. ?

When i had my first one 16 years ago it was all about making it a better car...

Methinks a reason for this is that a good/excellent standard car can fetch serious money for a lot less outlay than a good/excellent modified car

good point steve, i should imagine it takes all sorts, some like standard cars and some like modified cars. judging by what you read in the comics there very few standard cars out there to be perfectly honest. Looking on this forum in the resto section the majority of the cars have modifications. Im defo not knocking it as I love the thrills that a moded Mk2 can give you. Ive just built a standard car its great to drive it feels quick cos you got to be on the ball, cos like you say it dont stop and it dont handle thats the fun of driving a old car.

it seems that the two, keeping a standard concours car and modifying a car to make it handle etc. , are two very different things nowadays with owners wanting to set higher goals.
Take Worthers and Gerards car, both excellent as new cars and compare them with your car for instance. It's just a case of where do I get my kicks???
