These panels haven't been welded in place as its been noticed that the replacement magnum inner wing panels have some problems.

This is an original ford inner wing - note the 90 degree angle on the wing mounting band.

Now compare that with the new inner wing panels -

Unless sorted the wings will not sit properly on the mounting band and any errors will be really noticeable at the shut lines.

Does the wrong angle stop the bonnet from shutting correctly?

No the bonnet will still close at the moment - but once the wing is installed the problem will be evident. There may be problems with the gap lines and alignment of the wing will also be more difficult. In my opinion it would well worth spending the time teasing the wing rail down into the correct position before the wings are fitted.

It would be interesting to see if it is just the angle that needs addressing or if the whole of the top fold position is the problem.

Fingers crossed its only the angle - but the rest of the inner wing panel appears to be a tight but a good fit. The jig we're using has alignment points at the anti-roll brackets and top mount, we also marked various points on the shell before removing the old panels - it all seems to be a good fit except the wing mounting rail angle.

I'll find out for sure in the next few days........

That sound good, hope it is just the angle as I have this work to do on my rs too later.

Either ways you clearly have the skills to sort the issue out but hope it is just the angle.

Firstly Seats and Capri 2.8i Struts have arrived.

The struts will be converted to coilovers.

A fair amount of work has gone into ensuring the wings sit correctly on the car.

Firstly the inner wing mounting rails were at the wrong angle - these were 'tapped' into the correct position.

The self tapping screws are used to hold the wing in position as 'adjustments' are made. These will be removed once the wing is welded into its final position.

Then between the inner wing rail and front of the car sits the Wing Filler Flitch panel.

This made the wing sit proud - so some work was need to ensure it all fitted correctly.

Some work was also needed where the wing meets with the front panel.

It was the same on both sides
