Hi, this is my Mk2 RS2000, ave only owned 19 months. Am 29 and i live on the wirral. Ive always wanted one because it was the only model my dad wishes he owned when he was younger.
I knew what model i wanted and i knew i wanted a project because i couldnt afford a finished car.
How it started, i seen the car advertised on ebay as a non runner, after afew phone calls and a 500 mile round trip it was home and ready for me to play.
here it is on its way home.
we had only got to the first services after picking the car up and i had about 5 people all round the car looking at it and asking questions about it and was it for sale lol
The advert was correct a solid rs2000 that would start but not tick over. The car had been welded, not the tidiest job but i knew i could sort that out.
once car was home i washed it
The lad that had owned the car before me had spent a lot of money on the car. Two days after collecting the car me and my grandad had it running and idling properly, we had found out that the cam timing was incorrect, so that was why the car would start but wouldn't run
The car was running a piper 285 cam. the engine felt strong but i wanted to buy a oil pressure gauge to find out how good the engine was. Plus the rs has a oil pressure gauge on the dials and that was running up and down
The engine spec was suppose to be 2.1 block, big valve head, ported, 285 piper cam, big bore manifold, 38 dgas carb.
I bought a safety device cage and magnum bucket seats to go in the car because of the roll tops being worn and these were a cheaper option at the time.
me trial fitting the cage before plates were welded to the floor to bolt cage too.
