Could be a slippery slope.... where do you stop?

The black has to go as it has always pi55ed me off. Figure it has served it's purpose in preserving her for nearly 40 years.

I really don't want to take away the patina. Just the black goo is going.

Cheers guys for all the replies. Have to say I'm really fired up about the car again. First time in ages it's been my only project so should be able to crack on with it.

Now what do you think of the stance in the scanned photo?

I've always thought the rear springs must be knackered because she sits so low but it would seem it was the same back in 1980 when that photo was taken? Still on the original multi leaf springs. Decambered back in the day?

I fitted -1 inch springs to the front a while back but it's still at bit nose up in the current photo. -2" may be needed....

Steels all the way, never had any of those nasty 4 spoke things on and never will.

                      Little bit more this evening

Integral garage at home means I have to try and restrict the smell of white spirit and warm Ziebart.

Underside of the bonnet is going to be a bugger, horse hair type sound deadening has left it's backing. That along with the Ziebart is 5mm thick in places.

^^^^^ looks familiar!! Add a horse hair layer and it'll be spot on.

Thanks for the tip, I was thinking off removing the bonnet and laying it flat to soak it.
