      Hi Gaz and thanks mate, I wish I did it for a living . I have been dabbling with mk2 escorts for more years than I like to remember lol.
      The clarke 140e is a good mig and should be more than well able to do the job, just take your time to get use to it and it will be plain sailing from there.
      I use the clarke migpro 90 and when it runs out of gas I use my cheapo gasless mig inbetween times. The gas mig is a lot better for panels where you want to keep any distortion to a minimum.
      Keep the pics of your Mex coming, I will be keeping an eye on the resto.

        Your right, white needles are on earlier ones and then orange ones when Ford did their little make over, like when F O R D disappeared off the grill in favour of the Ford badge and the seperate letters disappeared off the boot.

I did manage to get grill off both front bumpers and one head light...LOL still it was a good morning having a good chat about mk2's..p.s Garry keep pic's coming mate you could turn out to be my motivation..

              Thats exactly as far as i got, lights , grill and bumpers lol. Going to take the front wings off at some point this week so have you chaps any tips as one looks not to bad and id like to salvage it

                  I've been tonight Garry and got other head light off and front wing.. A post is rotten as a pear and pork chop panel (splash shield) isn't mush better I knew it needed doing but didn't think it was that bad.. but at least I know where I'm start now.. worst bit first..

                        Gas
                        A be doing it for years.my welder is over
                        15 years old and only replaced the Noel and tips
                        So u will manger fine with a Clarke welder
                        Keep at it u will get.a fix old fords every day
                        Love my job.lol
