  • Sorry to hear that Adrian, it should be right now. You'd think he would give a proper good look at second time round. Shame he didn't do that before hand!! Still, I gather it's running again now?

      • Thanks chaps.I am pleased to say that the car is running well now.I have done about 50 miles as noted by the new electronic speedo(which i would highly recommend) and i have now started to stretch its legs a little. The mods i did to the head and of course the 1660 rebore have transformed the performance compared to before. It pulls from just over 2k and starts to pull very hard from 4k.I would say that its probably 10-15% more powerful than before.Of course i need to put it on the dyno to prove that but i am more than happy with the performance now.It performs just how i remembered them back in the day.I have given it a little tidy up under the bonnet and repainted the engine bay while the motor was out.It at least looks fairly respectable now.

          • good to hear your engines up and barking again but who has ever built up a short engine without turning crank to feel for any tight spots? Thought it was good practice to keep turning engine in direction of normal rotation when timing up cam to stop backlash confusing things.

What he did was built the engine and then timed it up and decided that the lock tab on the cam sprocket was tatty so went back to replace it.Its then that he replaced the wrong bolt/washer..Your right though..its no excuse...

                  Hello Mark.
                  This is the link

                  • Electronic • Stepper motor movement • Microprocessor controlled • Crystal accuracy • User programmable (pulses per distance (miles/km) Electronic sender required please see part number SPM by searching in the `Quick Find ` box to the left or in the cat…

You will need the hall sensor as well.It ended up being about 150 quid for everything. It is really easy to fit and works very well and is accurate when i compared it to my phones sat nav.

                      • I took the car outside today for a couple of pics with the lamps fitted...I have also fitted some kumho tyres 235/45 13 and 215/50 13....They just make the car sit spot on,its also amazing to drive now,it just gets better..i love it....When it comes on cam with this 244 its growls and howls ..it sounds proper and performs very well also.Apart from the extinguishers its now finished and ready to be used in anger..Heres the pics
