  • Not a mk1 or 2 but still an RS Escort

Failing its mot dismally due to excessive corrosion has prompted Alex to have the RS restored.

The engine is curently being rebuilt by specialised engines while we set about removing all the corrosion.

The shell looked rough once stripped but after abeing blasted the full extent of the corrosion became apparent.

Suffering from the usual ineer wing and battery tray rot.

Unfortunatly the corrosion had eaten its way into just about every panel on the car.

Even the suroof carrier has seen beter days.

Blasted and stripped and mounted on the spit the resto can begin, watch this space for more updates or follow the build on my project page http://www.andysautobody.co.uk/mk-3-...es-1-rs-turbo/

Isn't it nice that the MkIII seems to go in the same places as the MkII, although the MkII was spared a sunroof from the factory. Thanks uncle Henry, otherwise we'd have to patch those on the MkII too!

The panel work has been completed and the bay the boot area refinished in its original diamond white.
The prep on the rest of the shell is well under way and will soon be heading in to paint.
