Just how much of this car will actually be original when finished? Is it an historic one? Surely this is waaaay beyond being financially practical?

sometimes, some cars are more than just the money that is thrown at it, obviously, this car is thought to be one of them

No this is just a car that started off as a restoration or rather finishing off what someone else started and grew and grew. It's now so far in that there is no turning back. Time over again I would have bought another shell as there is nothing particularly special about this one; it was never Bronze as suggested and I could never prove it came from Zakspeed as alleged.
With a new front end, new boot floor and NOS rear quarters, doors, front wings and panel and NOS X pack still to go on there's ***k all left of the original car. Still it will be nice when it's done even if it ends up pointlessly expensive.

Despite all that I have said I am enjoying the project, love seeing it take shape and it's a good excuse to hide from the wife for a few hours each week and talk cars!!

great update love the amount of work going into this one but wouldnt it have been easier to turn the 4 door rust free shell into a 2 door lol.

We did mention a reshell to the owner but he wanted to rebuild the orignal shell.
Will last another 30 years now

There made to look like that,spot welds all in the right places

Any more progress on this car, why put new 1/4 panels on when wheelarches need cut out and x pack covers the bottom half ?

All on hold for the mo as owner has a few personal problems,he's hoping to get us back on it in the new year.

Needs new 1/4s as both were 1" deep in filler and one arch was 10 mm higher than the other!!
We were going to repair but were lucky to find a new pair,even being a xpack will make it a lot better job.

The arches were cut by Zakspeed when they fitted the X-pack kit, and as for 1" thick filler
