  • My Aussie escort auto to manual conversion

Some of you may know I have another ford other than the cosworth, my Aussie Escort 1300 auto

Well after just over 12 months over here and driving around with the very tired auto box, a change has got to happen.

I need a manual, and a 5 speed at that
found an interesting bit of paper under the carpet

    This has to go

    Australian seat mounts

Prop off and a solid floor

I know its not much of a start, but its a start

Sorry about the picture quality, I only have my phone

Thank you mate, the trouble was I couldn't stop driving it, but the tax ran out at the end of october, so now is as good a time as any

She is really solid, I actually feel guilty putting a hole in the floor for a gear lever

Chop it and arch it, I did with my aussie shell and have not looked back since :-)

nice shell as already said mike, you could use a section of a manual tunnel to weld in with gearstick hole to give you a neat finish, then again you could always pull the engine an box out the cossie an stick it in

Thank you mate, funny lots of people want me to pull the engine out of the cos, if she wasn't so clean

More progress, the box is out

tonight I have removed the driven plate to swap over the ring gear to the flywheel (if it will fit) and I have fitted the spigot bearing. no pictures of that, so instead here are some of her in one piece.
