  • First job to sought out with the turrets was to cut out some bad repair patch panels,( NOT MINE..!!). I then fabricated some repair panels and butt welded, trial fitted the turrets and cut out the required shape. I then made a jig for the turrets, cut out and shaped the tub.

      • It's not a quick and easy job to fit these tubs and turrets..!! I can see why builders want up to a £1000 to fit them.

I had to make another jig to get the centre distance right, it took Hours and a lot of patience to grind the tub so that the tub to turret gap wasn't too big.

You have to continually measure and check centers. At least one is in ready to be tacked, the other one shouldn't take as long now that I have some measurements to copy.

        • Got most of the tub and turrets welding done but run out of gas. Quite pleased with the result and much much better than what was fitted.

            nice welds.
see ur fitting of rear turrets boxes would u not use rear axe as a line also when ur longer shocks are fitted to axe.
just a quick question out of intrest m8.

The turret centers are exactly where the axle tube center will be when fitted. There will be some adjustment on the 4 link bar's rose joint.

The shock brackets can be welded in 3 different places on the axle, center, left side or right side, this is why the turrets are triangle shaped, I will be going the center line on top of the axle.

I hope this is what you question was concerning..???

This time around I had a gap between the braces..!! not sure why, but I had to make a small section to fill it in.

In this photo the turrets look like they are tapering the wrong way..!!!! it's just that the shell is not level and the camera is.

                              • Moved on to fitting the roll cage. I've made my own 3mm mounting plates for the main hoop but waiting for safety Devices to send me redeveloped plates for the front legs.

It's a time consuming job to fit it and the backstay brackets are going to be right on the edge of the new tubs but a strap has helped to get the best fit possible.
