Look at the bearing. They are supposed to be evenly spaced, but the cage that separates the balls is on the bench bottom of pic

I bet that would of bleedin howled..shortly before it locked solid!..
I have changed the bearing in the rally car box..It was straightforward and cheap to do.

Weirdly I can only describe that gearbox as beautiful to drive! It was one of the best bits about the car that is why I originally decided to not touch it. But I was encouraged to replace the oil seal, thank god and found that !!

any ideas when it was done kelvin? I'm gonna give it to a local guy to do it would just be helpful if I knew when it was last done so he don't go to town on it unnecessarily.

You can swap that bearing...I am a big fan of doing things myself if i can, due to my recent experience.

I think I've found an old Skool gearbox man up the road so gonna check em out Monday shouldn't cost too much to have someone go thro it
