I've been in love with Stags for about 35 years and have yearned for one for a while now. Made it a pre-requisite to finish Jaffa though first.
LHD Europe Stags go for about €15.000 - €30.000.
Picked this up for €5500 !
Plan to do a complete bare-metal resto including complete nuts and bolts engine and drivetrain etc. It's in amazingly good shape - absolutely all original. A few rust bubbles on the old windscreen pillar of course, and evidence of a repair on LH Door and rear door post, but that's about all.
Won't be keeping it white/black. Plan to go French or Delft Blue with Tan interior.
Parts are ridiculously cheap. A Group 1 Air Filter housing will get you a complete reconditioned soft top with frame
Very Cool, I was assistant service manager at a BL dealer back in the mid 70's , very familiar with these cars and their idiosyncrocies , timing chain tensioner was another problem with the Triumph V8. Still like these though.

If you are looking to improve the rear end a little, I used to do the rilsan coated driveshafts when I worked for GKN so I can point you in the right direction for a pair, I also know about the fabled CV shafts that never really happened. If you are going for the resto and not an upgrade then you won't need to know about the Monarch Stag parts (3 series BMW rear end conversion), if you do want something a bit more up to date and servicable though have a look at the web page.

ended up getting rid as everytime we went out with the hood down the youngest lad would complain that it was too windy
so thought whats the point in having a convertable if you keep the hood up all the time

Picked up today for Strip-'n-Dip. (Removal off all paint, underseal, primer, filler, by use of beadblasting, nutshell blasting, shotblasting, high-pressure water jet, dry ice blasting and some caustic dipping). Comes back in a week with a basic primer coat ready to sort out the welding.
